Summary About the Position: The Program Executive Office, Ground Combat Systems (PEO GCS) is responsible for providing world-class affordable, relevant and sustainable ground combat vehicles to Joint Warfighters. With a focus on developing current and future systems, PEO GCS is leading the production and management of all combat vehicles for the Army. Responsibilities Serves as Chief of a PM/PD Logistics Management Office, with responsibility for the overall management, planning, acquisition, direction, and coordination of integrated logistics support activities for the PM/PD. Determines scope, directives and orders of higher echelons on the logistical support programs and takes positive action to effect changes and minimize adverse impact. Adjusts objectives and goals in relation to mission and utilization of resources in relation to objectives and goals to attain an effective balance between current and anticipated requirements. Establishes and maintains communications with users to assure PM/PD responsiveness to their reactions. Makes decisions and recommendations concerning all but the most highly controversial issues involving top policy matters. Represents the Product Manager/Director at high level conferences or meetings. Provides direction and implementing policy for progressive personnel management of subordinate staff. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In order to qualify for this position based on experience, your resume must describe one year of specialized experience at the NH-03 level in the Federal Service, which includes: (1) Briefing commands on program developments that affect distribution, logistics, and support planning to include required planning for special maintenance or support facilities; (2) Applying concepts and theories of logistics management to evaluate policies and proposals involving the assumption of major new logistics support missions and programs; (3) Implementing comprehensive product support strategy throughout the life cycle for the materiel system(s); (4) Interpreting technical policy, procedures and regulations to ensure adherence to schedules and priorities; (5) Analyzing the impact of current activities on current and projected resources, to recommend feasible alternatives and determine milestone events; (6) Developing product support strategies and life cycle sustainment plans in accordance with Army acquisition policies and procedures; and (7) Briefing leadership or key officials on program status and evaluate policies and proposals involving the assumption of new logistics support missions or programs. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service NH-03 (or GS-13 equivalent).
