Description

Our client, a well-established law firm in Walnut Creek, is actively seeking a recently barred Civil Litigation Associate Attorney to join their litigation team on a contract-to-hire basis. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a new attorney to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative environment with the potential for a permanent position. The contract phase requires on-site attendance five days a week in Walnut Creek, transitioning to a hybrid work model upon conversion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage civil litigation cases from initiation through resolution, including case analysis, strategic planning, and client communication.

• Perform legal research and draft various legal documents, including complaints, answers, motions, and briefs, along with legal memoranda.

• Handle discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, conducting depositions, and document review.

• Collaborate on trial strategy, assist with witness preparation, jury selection, and preparation of trial materials.

• Represent clients in court for motions, hearings, and settlement negotiations.

• Maintain regular client contact, providing updates on case progress and strategy.

  Requirements

Qualifications:

• Recently barred attorney with Civil Litigation experience (relevant internships, clerkships, or paralegal experience in litigation is a plus)

• Strong research, analytical, and writing skills, with experience in drafting legal documents and developing case strategy

• Familiarity with the litigation process, including pleadings, discovery, motions, and trial preparation

• Availability to work on-site in Walnut Creek, CA, five days a week during the contract phase

• Knowledge of California Civil Litigation procedures and familiarity with local court rules

• Proficiency in case management software and MS Office Suite
