Summary About the Position: The Walla Walla District US Army Corps of Engineers is comprised of motivated and talented employees providing the very best engineering services for communities in the Pacific Northwest. The District helps manage local water resources for navigation, flood damage reduction, disaster assistance, hydroelectric power generation, and other natural and heritage areas. Responsibilities Duties are listed at the full performance level. Lower grades will be provided growth opportunities to attain target skills. If you possess the skills listed below, please highlight in the experience section of your resume. Serve as the Advanced Modeling Lead. Perform 3D solids modeling, including Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Civil Information Modeling (CIM) on multiple platforms. Perform layout of complex equipment and features from very basic instructions from engineers. Perform feature sizing based on general-principle and standard criteria. Mentor others in the proper use of 3D Modeling, BIM, and CIM on multiple platforms. Lead other Engineering Technicians (CADD Lead) in multi-discipline projects. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-4 Specialized Experience: Six months of general experience which includes (1) any type of work which demonstrates my ability to perform the work of the position; OR (2) experience that provided a familiarity using computer-aided software to create drawings or to depict objects/features AND six months of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-03 grade level in the Federal service which includes technical work in drafting. Specialized experience can be for either an academic setting or on-the-job, including internships. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-03). OR Education: Two years of education above the high school level that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. At least 3 of the 12 semester hours must have been in drafting (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education by 60. Add the two percentages. GS-5 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using computer-aided software to create engineering drawings or to depict objects/features. Specialized experience can be for either an academic setting or on-the-job, including internships. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; OR (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. At least 6 of the 24 semester hours must have been in drafting. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience using computer-aided drafting systems to update basic to complex engineering drawings and models for projects focused on civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and/or electrical designs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience reviewing drawings and models for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to requirements, and using computer-aided design to revise and produce basic engineering drawings and models from sketches for projects focused on civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and/or electrical designs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). GS-08 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience using computer-aided design to produce complex engineering drawings and 3D models from sketches and performing field visits to ascertain design requirements and as-constructed conditions for projects focused on civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and/or electrical designs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). GS-09 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Developing 3D BIM/CIM models, design drawings and detailed layouts with DETAILED instructions from engineers; 2) Review of models and design drawings from others; AND 3) Mentor & train on 2D/3D CAD platforms. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). GS-10 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Developing 3D BIM/CIM models, design drawings and detailed layouts, and basic feature sizing with MINIMAL instructions from engineers 2) Review of models and design drawings from others 3) Mentor & train on BIM/CIM in a single platform AND 4) Lead other engineering technician (CADD Lead) in multi-discipline projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Independently developing 3D BIM/CIM models, design drawings and detailed layouts in multiple platforms with VERY BASIC instructions 2) Review of models and design drawings from others 3) Mentor & train on BIM/CIM in multiple platforms AND 4) Lead other engineering technician (CADD Lead) in multi-discipline projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
