Child & Family Service Lead Family Service Worker - Comprehensive Counseling Support Services (Full-Time) in Wailuku, Hawaii

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The Lead Family Service Worker works closely with other team members to plan, develop, and coordinate the daily visitation and transportation schedule. Conducts assessments and Individualized Program Plans (IPPs) when the following conditions are met: (1) Transportation and 'Ohana Time/Supervised Visits are the only services provided to the parent/child by this contact and (2) The assessments and IPPs are reviewed and signed by the Supervisor. (S)he provides transportation and supervised visitation services in a safe setting between parents and their children in foster care. (S)he provides role modeling and hands on teaching instructions on parenting and household management with empathetic support and encouragement to families. (S)he assists the family in obtaining needed concrete services and establishes participant, child and foster parent rapport and trust. (S)he maintains participant confidentiality at all times, participates in program staff meetings, meets with supervisor on a regular basis and attends training and other staff development activities. (S)he maintains case recording, mileage logs and other miscellaneous reports in a timely fashion.


EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Up to and including high school. Requires enough basic education to understand and follow standard practice or oral and written instructions, able to read and write, use simple arithmetic, and keep simple records.

EXPERIENCE

  • Over two years, up to and including four years.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Experience working with families experiencing trauma, substance use disorders, mental health, domestic violence, and/or child abuse/neglect. Ability to engage, establish rapport, and collaboratively work with challenging families to improve their parenting skills.

OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license and a clear driver's abstract and continued employment may be contingent on maintaining a clear driver's abstract.
  • This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license, a clear driver's abstract, and use ofpersonalvehicle to transport participants, as needed, as well as a willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island.
  • This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and continued employm nt is contingent on a record clear of convictions.
  • Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of CPR, CPI and/or van driving training as such training is necessary to ensure ability/continued ability to perform essential functions of this job.
  • Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of CPI classes OR other Behavioral Management certification as may be contract-mandated.
  • Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of First Aid classes.
