Ridgeview Medical Center RN Breast Care Coordinator in Waconia, Minnesota
Purpose of Job This casual position is responsible for the delivery of individualized patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning and implementation, and evaluation in accordance with the Standards of Nursing Care and Practices as defined by Ridgeview Medical Center, the Minnesota Nurse Practice Standards Act, and the ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice. As the Breast Care Coordinator, acts as a liaison to other departments in order to coordinate care of the newly diagnosed patient and on-going care of the breast cancer survivors. The nurse will utilize the nursing process in the performance of general and departmental specific competencies, and communication skills. Job Functions Provide nursing care, support, and education to patients and families undergoing interventional procedures and newly diagnosed cancer. This includes pediatric exams and interventional procedures in the IR/Cath Lab. Provide nursing care, support and education for all patients and families with newly diagnosed cancer, with a focus on the most common diagnosis of breast cancer. Works with Radiology team to provide effective workflow while delivering the highest standard of patient care. Works with Radiologist on follow up and coordination of clinical care. Serves as a representative for Cancer Service Line Committee. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education/Work Experience Graduate of an accredited school of nursing 4 years of radiology, research or oncology experience Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Demonstrate critical thinking and decision making skills Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above Ability to multi-task Ability to place port-a-cath access Ability to perform intravenous access technique Ability to function both independently and as part of a team Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations Ability to effectively handle high-stress fast paced environment Ability to maintain technical skills and familiarize self with new equipment and procedures as the need arises Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above License/Certifications Current professional nurse licensure in Minnesota or if licensed in another state, a permit from the Minnesota Board of Nursing while the license application is in process Current ACLS certification OCN certification or willing to obtain Link to Employee Health Physical Demands Ridgeview Medical Center will not discriminate against or harass any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, citizenship, national origin, age, disability, military service, veteran status, genetic information, union membership, creed, marital status, familial status, sexual orientation, gender identity, status with regards to public assistance, membership in a local human rights commission, or any other category that may be protected by law.
