Ridgeview Medical Center Manager Sterile Processing in Waconia, Minnesota

Purpose of Job This position is responsible for the overall daily operations of SPD for the Ridgeview Waconia and Ridgeview Chaska campuses. Themanager of SPD oversees all aspects of decontamination of instruments, processing and sterilizing and storage of sterile instrumentation and equipment. Plans and documents new instrumentation within surgical services. Coordinates with hospital departments and RMC clinics to facilitate processing of instruments that support the daily activities of each department and RMC clinic. Job Functions Manages and coordinates the daily activities of the until to ensure efficient and effective operations. Manages staff resources by overseeing recruiting, selecting, hiring and orienting qualified individuals. Evaluates staff performance in an accurate, consistent, objective and timely manner. Develops core positions hiring strategies and ensures opportunities for professional development. Creates a cohesive department committed to providing distributive, clinical and service quality to all customers. Manages and coordinates the daily activities of the responsible departments to ensure efficient and effective operations. Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility in adjusting to new and changing priorities and work situations. Plans, develops, monitors and maintains annual department operating and capital equipment budget. Promotes department and organizational process improvement. Demonstrates effective skills in planning and organizing. Demonstrates effective problem solving skills to analyze situations; develops alternative solutions and takes appropriate corrective action. Demonstrates leadership by building a culture consistent with Ridgeview Medical Center's mission, values, and guiding principles. Provides effective individual department and organizational verbal and written communications. Establishes, monitors and enforces standards for department risk management, safety and security in accordance with RMC Safety/Risk Management Committee. Responsible for personal and professional development to ensure current knowledge and performance in the profession/position and the promotion of professional growth of others. Manages financial resources and analyzes data to complete monthly financial reports. Orders all surgical instruments and assembles instrument sets for surgery, other hospital departments and RMC clinics. Organizes instrument repair and obtains loaner instruments as needed. Analyzes data to obtain daily and monthly statistics of surgical and clinical instrument use. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education/Work Experience Technical Degree in Management, Surgical Technology, or Nursing Minimum 5 years Sterile Processing Experience 1-3 years Supervisory/Management Experience Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Demonstrate critical thinking and decision making Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete the job functions as mentioned above Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills Knowledge of sterile processing, regulatory, accrediting and procedural requirements Knowledge of computers and needed software (Word and Excel) Ability to direct, coach and manage team Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above License/Certifications Current CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CSPM (Certified Sterile Processing Management) certification is required or obtained within 12 months of hire. Preferred Qualifications Bachelors of Arts or Science Degree in Management, Business, Nursing or related field Additional SPD Certifications (e.g., CSPDT, CASSPT, CFER, CSPM, CSIS) Link to Physical Demands Compensation Many factors are taken into consid ration when determining compensation such as: the requirements of the position, experience, education, knowledge, and skills along with location and internal equity.
