Job Description:

This position is for a Site Lead FAA Inspection Unit Member for the FAA ODA at our Waco, TX facility. This position will require the successful candidate to act as an alternate Lead Inspection UM fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the Lead Inspection UM at our Waco facility. These duties include mentoring and coaching all ODA inspection staff members in the design, development and implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of company products in compliance with contractual and FAA regulatory requirements. Training ODA inspection personnel in the analysis of reported deviations and discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical systems, pertaining to STC certification projects. Guiding ODA inspection personnel on investigating the cause for deviations and nonconformities to assist the applicant in the development, disposition, and implementation of corrective action plans. Focal point within ODA to act as a liaison between ODA inspection, engineering, manufacturing, customer, vendor, and subcontractor representatives to ensure approved type design data requirements are met.

Essential Functions:

  • The candidate filling this position will be responsible for managing certification data files and conducting conformity inspections of assigned ODA STC certification projects

  • Ensure compliance with the ODA (Organization, Delegation, Authorization) Procedures manual and FAA Regulatory requirements on assigned projects

  • Complete all FAA conformity documentation related to assigned projects

  • Act as a liaison between the applicant and the ODA team

  • Position has possibility of working nights and/or weekends and will require up to 20% travel to off-site locations in support of STC program needs

    Qualifications:

  • Position requires an ACTIVE DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

  • Practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. Any of the following:

  • 5-10 years direct experience as a certificated aviation maintenance professional

  • 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree and a minimum of 5 years of as a certificated aviation maintenance professional

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate

  • Understanding of FAA form 8120-10 Request for Conformity

  • Understanding of FAA form 8100-1 Conformity Inspection Record

  • Intimate understanding of FAA form 8130-9 Statement of Conformity

  • Understanding of FAA form 8130-31 Statement of Conformity- Military Aircraft

  • Understanding of aircraft weight and balance

  • Intimate understanding of quality systems utilized across the aviation industry

  • Experience conducting conformity inspections of compliance test set-ups

  • Experience performing conformity inspections of articles

  • Experience conducting conformity inspections of aircraft level installations

  • Experience conducting FAA TIA inspections and ability to determine airworthiness of aircraft before flight testing

  • Active status on an ODA Inspection Staff with current ODA authorization to conduct conformity on aircraft installations as well as detail parts and test configurations

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Ten years of experience on an ODA Staff conducting inspections related to the modification of aircraft, aircraft parts and assemblies

  • Five years of experience related to aircraft flight operations

  • Knowledge of root cause analysis and establishing corrective action plans
