GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Custodial Manager supervises all custodial staff at McLennan and oversees day-to-day operations for the Custodial department. This position provides daily work assignments, assures custodians are maintaining all buildings on and off main campus, such as ordering supplies and equipment as needed monitoring custodial inventory, providing adequate training on cleaning, appropriate chemical usage, equipment usage and operations. The manager will perform building inspections for cleanliness and potential safety hazards. This position receives general direction from the Director of the Physical Plant and exercises support staff supervision.

NOTE:

This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

High school diploma or GED

Experience:

Two or more years of relevant work experience

Special Requirement:

Must have and maintain a

valid driver's license. Must be insurable and maintain insurability under the College's automobile insurance policy.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

More than one year of work experience as a supervisor

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of:

Methods, materials, and procedures used in cleaning campus buildings.

Safe work practices and necessary personal protective equipment.

. MCC and departmental policies and procedures.

. Business operations including budgeting, purchasing, inventory control, and personnel management.

Skills in:

  1. Supervising a large group of diverse personnel, including evaluating employees and providing feedback. 6. Operating commercial cleaning equipment. 7. Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing. 8. Problem solving and critical thinking.

Ability to: 9. successfully perform the required tasks to meet necessary deadlines. 10. Provide direct supervision, including assigning tasks and evaluating needs of the department; 11. Manage daily custodial operations. 12. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
