GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Use your skills to make a difference in your community! This is a 29-hour-per-week (alternating 24-32 hours per week) clinic supervisor position operating the local Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) agencies in Afton, Alpine, and Jackson, Wyoming. This position ensures compliance with federal and state regulations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
Directs the work of contractors and employees with operational, supervisory, and fiscal responsibility.
Conducts health screenings, including anthropometric and hematologic assessments, and nutrition assessments, to determine WIC eligibility.
Provides health referrals, nutrition education, breastfeeding education, and breastfeeding promotion and support.
Prescribes and issues supplemental, nutritious food packages.
Communicate with necessary parties regarding changing rules, expectations, and goals while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
Assures that the development of services and actual service delivery meet the needs of the participants and that areas of concern with service delivery are appropriately addressed.
Assesses community needs and conducts appropriate outreach.
Functions as a liaison from field offices to the Regional Nutrition Supervisor and State WIC Agency.
Offers provider and participant training and education, public education, and resource
development, and the identification and implementation of best practices.
- Coordinates breastfeeding promotion and education.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
A four-year degree is required in Nutrition, Dietetics, Nursing, or Public Health Nutrition. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required for RNs. Registered Dietitian (RD) credential is preferred for nutritionists. Our ideal candidate will also have a minimum of one year of supervisory experience. Ability to read, write, and speak in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of grant writing, grant administration,
management, and evaluation.
Knowledge of program administration.
Knowledge of Wyoming state statutes.
Knowledge of marketing, social marketing, customer service, group dynamics, public
relations, advocacy, and outreach strategies.
Understanding and ability to apply principles of maternal and child health and nutrition, as well as breastfeeding support and education.
Ability to supervise and motivate employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Healthcare)
Experience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Health Programs)
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Health Programs)
