It is anticipated that an incumbent in this role will work onsite for three (3) or more days a week and will have a dedicated workspace when working onsite. Work location is subject to change based on business needs.

Summary of the Job:

As a vital member of the First National Information Technology (FNIT) Senior Leadership Team reporting to the CTO, the Senior Leader of Architecture & Emerging Technology will be central to defining and executing the architectural vision and strategy across the bank. This role requires a strategic focus, with more than 50% of time dedicated to medium- to long-term planning activities along with identifying strategic investment opportunities to align with future technological needs. They will partner closely with their peers on the leadership team and in the business to ensure the architecture direction and standards are integrated with business strategy. This role is dedicated to ensuring that our technology and data architecture not only meet today's efficiency and security standards but are also agile enough to adapt to future growth and technological advancements. The successful candidate will not only maintain our current technology and data standards but will also drive emerging technology research to ensure the bank maintains a competitive edge. The role demands a high level of collaboration and the ability to think like an owner, focusing on creating long-term value while preserving the culture and values through daily decisions.

About This Role:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Strategic Architecture Development: Develop and maintain comprehensive architecture strategies that support the bank’s long-term objectives. Ensure that IT infrastructure and applications are scalable, reliable, and secure.

  • Leadership and Governance: Lead a team of architects and researchers. Establish governance structures to evaluate and prioritize technology and architecture ideas based on their alignment with business strategy.

  • Develop the Architecture Practice: Leads the development of the architecture practice to includetechnical and data architecture standards. Ensures our architecture practice is aligned to the needs of the organization.

  • Support Solution Delivery: Facilitates a collaborative relationship across architecture community, product management and delivery teams.Collaborates with teams to ensure consistency with the enterprise architecture, as well as to leverage shared technologies, tools, and processes.

  • Research Emerging Technology: Continuously explore and evaluate new technologies and industry trends that could affect business. Provides practical advice and best practices to take advantage of new, or emerging, opportunities and successfully deliver the expected business outcomes.

  • Lead Emerging Technology Experimentation: Lead pilot projects to assess their potential impact and feasibility for full-scale implementation. Ensure integration of new technologies with existing systems.

  • Team Leadership : Lead the enterprise architecture team and collaborate with other IT leaders to promote a unified approach to technology architecture and strategy. Mentor and develop team members to foster a high-performing and innovative team culture.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders to ensure the architecture strategy supports business needs and growth.

  • Risk Management and Compliance: Ensure that architecture practices meet compliance and risk management requirements.

  • Budget and Resource Allocation: Allocate resources efficiently to maximize organizational opportunities over a 5-year horizon. Manage expense and capital to foster innovation and operational effectiveness.

  • Portfolio Modernization and Roadmaps: Present gap analyses and/or IT investment roadmaps that reflect the status of the IT landscape, namely, its ability to contribute to future business capabilities.

The Ideal Candidate for This Role:

Job Requirements

Education

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree incomputer science, computer engineering, information systems or a related field of study, or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Candidates should have extensive technology leadership experienceand a proven track record in IT, demonstrating accomplishments in architecture, technology innovation, or technology engineering.

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing technology solutions and architecture.

  • Knowledge of emerging technologies, such as AI, blockchain, cloud computing, and their applications.

  • Knowledge of all components of enterprise architecture, business and IT principles and processes.

  • Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), service-oriented architecture (SOA), APIs, open data, microservices, event-driven IT and predictive analytics.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, inspire, and lead diverse teams.

  • Excellent written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.

  • Understanding of the different types of agile principles, methodologies, and frameworks, especially those designed to be scaled at the enterprise level.
