Description

The Human Services Agency is seeking highly qualified candidates for the Utility Transport Specialist.

Perform a variety of manual and semi-skilled tasks, including transporting materials and supplies, setting up catering events, assisting with fleet management, and operating laundry services in a secured facility.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Utility Transport Specialist I (Utility Worker I) is the entry or trainee level class in this series. Initially, under close supervision, incumbents perform the more routine duties while receiving on-the-job instruction and gaining practical experience. As experience is gained, there is greater independence of action within established guidelines. This class is alternately staffed with Utility Worker II and incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency which meet the qualifications of the higher level class.

Utility Transport Specialist II (Utility Worker II) is the experienced journey level class in this series. Under general supervision, incumbents independently perform the full range of duties. All the positions are characterized by the presence of fairly clear guidelines from which to make decisions and the availability of supervision in non-routine circumstances. Incumbents should demonstrate a thorough knowledge of operations and procedures and the ability to independently accomplish day-to-day tasks under normal conditions and to instruct others. This class is further distinguished from the Senior Utility Transport Specialist in that the latter is a working lead and assigns, directs and reviews the work of a small group of employees performing similar tasks; or, performs semi-skilled tasks in conjunction with skilled trades personnel and/or highly specialized tasks in the coordination of work requests and assignment of work orders.
