Job Summary

The Unit Administrator for the SPDD Department is responsible for both the management and programming of his/her facility. Management is defined primarily as the day-to-day operation of the group home. Programming ensures that acceptable standards are met in the delivery or services to each consumer of the group home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures IRA/ICF compliance to all applicable regulations as outlined by Medicaid, Social Security, OPWDD, and Abbott House.

  • Ensures that each residence assigned creates and maintains a therapeutic environment consistent with the guiding philosophy of OPWDD.

  • Provides supervision and direction to each assigned residence manager. Regular supervision with each manager will be provided.

  • Ensures that each residence is properly supervising and supporting consumers as outlined in the house POPO and consumer specific POPO.

  • Provides on-call activities on a rotating basis

  • Ensures that the overall environment in a residence is pleasant, well maintained and within applicable standards and Life Safety codes. Maintains appropriate contact with the maintenance department via E-mail, phone or work order

  • Ensures timely follow-up on issues identified.

  • Participates as a member of the SPDD management team and attends meetings as requested. Recommends P&P as needed.

  • Seek to improve skills by attending trainings and seminars offered.

  • Monitor, review and approve Petty Cash budgets for each assigned residence. Recommends approval of purchase orders for assigned residences.

  • Oversees hiring process for assigned residences.

  • Is highly visible to the houses assigned. Unannounced and announced visitations will be evident on a regular basis. This would include 4 visits yearly to each residence on the overnight awake shift. Visitations to the houses are on a flexible schedule with emphasis on being available to direct support staff and consumers.

  • Ensures follow-up to committee recommendations including SRC and HRC.

  • Oversees the residential habilitation process including creation of goals, methodology, implementation, and documentation in accordance with appropriate standards.

  • Represents Abbott House in the community, at meetings and as such does so in a professional manner.

  • Any other duties as assigned by the Director of SPDD.

  • You must have a high school diploma. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • You must have three years of supervisory experience in residential programs for people with developmental disabilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $60,000.00 - $62,400.00 per year
