2 Vacant Positions

The Student Hourly Assistant, under general supervision, will aid and assist in developing, distributing, and marketing CEP educational materials via mail. Workers will aid in the maintenance of the Urban Agriculture demonstration site through watering, weeding, harvesting, and planting. Students will have the opportunity to participate in agriculture related social media content production for the CEP AGNR Unit.

Responsibilities:

  • Aid and assist in developing, distributing, and marketing CEP educational materials via mail.

  • Aid in the maintenance of the Urban Agriculture demonstration site through watering, weeding, harvesting, and planting.

  • Water, harvest, and observe demonstration garden 3 days per week.

  • Participate in agriculture related social media content production for CEP AGNR Unit.

  • Create PowerPoint, flyer, or fact sheet weekly.

  • Develop agriculture-related content videos twice per week.

  • Perform clerical/office related work.

  • Support extension secretary in clerical duties as needed.

  • Check in with the program leader and specialist daily during required work hours.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Presently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University.

  • Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA

  • No prior experience necessary

  • For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least three (3) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours or nine (9) graduate semester hours for the upcoming fall term.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Agriculture.

  • Marketing skills.

  • The ability to receive 1 full day's training.
