THIS IS A TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

We are growing our Disaster Response team for potential future opportunities for experienced Site Safety and Health Professionals to support communities impacted by disasters. The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) must meet experience and certification requirements and if selected for this opportunity, must be able to deploy within 24 to 72 hours to the designated impacted area in the field or on site at client locations. This is a temporary employment opportunity.    

ACI Temp Power contract is an On-Call contract for temporary deployment, working to support FEMA by installing and deactivating temporary power generators at FEMA facilities following a Presidentially Declared Disaster.  When FEMA activates the contract, resources may have as little as 24 to 72 hours to deploy to the disaster site. The length of deployments are anticipated to be 6 to 8 weeks per activation.

The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety guidelines and procedures. The SSHO will ensure the safety of all employees, make sure all projects are up to code, and provide advice and recommendations for safety improvements. Prepare written reports on their findings. Design and implement workplace processes and procedures that help protect workers from hazardous work conditions. L The SSHO may manage Site Safety and Health Specialists larger disasters. 

Responsibilities, Duties, and Competencies:

  • Broad knowledge and experience of safety and occupational health principles, methods, and techniques.

  • Skilled and experienced in recognizing hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions, developing measures to eliminate or control these conditions and effectively communicating the appropriate measures to resolve these problems is essential.

  • Practical knowledge of the methods, techniques, and procedures applied by industrial hygienists and environmental and fire prevention engineers is frequently necessary.

  • Understanding of the EM385-1-1 methodology and familiar with EPP & SPCC.

  • This position will be a part of the ICS command staff and will provide guidance to the IC on HSE policy, procedures, and applicable agency regulations.

  • Must be experienced with technology tools and working in a variety of environments.

    Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred.

  • Must have 5-7 years in safety and health related environment. Construction or related field is preferred

  • Must have and maintain OSHA 30 Certification in Construction or General Industry .

  • Must have EM385-1-1 Certification or be able to complete the certification before being added to the roster for deployment. .

  • Must have current First Aid,  CPR, and AED certifications.

  • Must have a certificate of completion, or be able to gain a certificate of completion for the 2 hours courses, DOD AT1 and FEMA IS-815: ABCs of Temporary Emergency Power.

  • Nice to have:  HAZWOPER
