Senior Researcher (Applied ML) at Fujitsu's Converging Technologies Laboratory (Santa Clara, CA)

We are seeking an exceptional research scientist working in Machine Learning and Advanced Data Analysis to join our growing CT Lab at Santa Clara. Particularly, we are looking for someone with experience in both numerical as well as ML/DL-based modeling of natural/social phenomenon to help build innovative research ideas and prototypes at the intersection of climate change, sustainability, human/societal impact, urban planning, transportation and other closely related social and environmental topics. We value individuals with a vision to pick up new knowledge, see through complex scenarios and arrive at simple, elegant yet workable solutions. Self-driven nature, creativity, communication skill, attention to details are traits of a successful researcher in this role.

Job responsibilities

  1. Conduct research in machine learning and its application to support digital twin development for impactful societal and business use cases.

  2. Implement physics-informed hybrid AI/ML models and work with heterogenous sources of large-scale scientific datasets (both simulation and observation).

  3. Formulate and develop prototypes (PoC) with the goal of actuating SOTA scientific research into real world applications.

  4. Publish research papers in reputed scientific journals, and conferences. Showcase the work via presentation at invited talks, conferences workshops, and/ or poster sessions.

  5. Advance team goals by identifying new and upcoming research areas through academic as well as industrial collaborations.

Requirements

  1. Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related interdisciplinary Computational Sciences with a focus in applying statistical data science and AI/ML concepts for climate/environmental/economic applications.

  2. Proven track record of coming up with new ideas or improving upon existing ideas in computing, demonstrated by accomplishments such as peer-reviewed publications, and successful project contributions.

  3. Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within an interdisciplinary team of researchers and business leaders, both written and verbal.

Fujitsu salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. ​ It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each situation. The pay range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: specific skills, qualifications, experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. The pay range for this position is estimated at $129,407.04 to $184,867.20 USD. Additionally, this role may be eligible for a short-term incentive based on company results and individual performance.
