Hologic is growing and expanding our Innovation center in Newark, Delaware and we are seeking a Senior Material Cost Engineer responsible for costing evaluations and material value improvements of direct material. As the Senior Material Cost Engineer you will partners with cross-functional stakeholders to drive competitive advantage for Hologic in the assigned technical category.

What To Expect:

  • Conducts should cost analysis of direct materials based on expertise and experience in key categories including high voltage power supplies, human interface devices, sensors, motion control, PCBA’s, cables, x-ray tubes, molded plastics, metal assemblies.

  • Uses benchmarking, industry experts and sources, supplier information, and other data sources to assess material should costs and cost developments.

  • Identifies cost reduction opportunities across current products and collaborates with procurement and sourcing team members on negotiation planning and execution.

  • Will continuously identify and drive annual material cost reduction improvements to deliver 2.5% annual cost reductions at a minimum.

  • Evaluates current suppliers and manufacturing processes to identify improvement opportunities and drives implementation.

  • Provides input to R&D on new product design from design for manufacturability and supply chain perspective.

  • Identifies and recommends suppliers to sourcing and procurement for supplier selection and transitions.

  • Reviews quotes in his/her area of expertise to provide guidance to procurement, sourcing and R&D around material selection, design, and supplier selection/awards.

  • Participates in professional development and stays current with new manufacturing technology and processes while actively seeking to implement new technology into new and existing production lines.

  • Guides and mentors early career engineers and buyers to promote learning, development and knowledge transfer.

  • Identifies and drives organizational improvements Business SOPs and the Quality Management System.

What We Expect:

  • Master's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with 6+ years of relevant experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Adapts communication style to suite different audiences. Creates precise, accurate costing documentation. Able to facilitate group discussions.

  • Experience in designing for machinability, molding, casting, part fabrication and semiconductor manufacturing technologies.

  • Experience in should costing and clean sheeting analysis.

  • Ability to lead high performing teams.

  • Advanced knowledge of ERP Systems, MS Office, Solidworks.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing, quality improvement and cost reduction methodologies such as CIMs, Lean, Root Cause and Root Cause Failure Analysis, TQM, SPC and Six Sigma

  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple large-scale projects in various lifecycle stages

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of peers; efficiently direct and coordinate the work of others

Skills Desired:

  • Knowledge of IPC, ANSI, and GD&T standards including ISO/ANSI 9001, ANSI/ASME Y14.1, ANSI/NFPA 79

  • Knowledge of electrical circuits, high voltage power supplies, human interface devices, sensors, motion control, PCBA’s, cables, x-ray tubes, molded plastics, metal assemblies

  • Advanced negotiation skills

  • Ability to develop and deliver high quality presentations

The annualized base salary range for this role is $112,000 to $174,000 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
