Position Summary

Provides support to clients with respect to applications computing technologies by assisting in defining user requirements for existing business applications to ensure optimal use of systems; participates in implementing new applications to improve information processing on an ongoing basis. In addition to supporting internal constituents related to these computing technologies, the Senior BSA is also responsible for supporting external clients, prospect meetings, finalist meetings and sales/support staff as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support for applications technologies within areas of expertise by analyzing and documenting user requirements pertaining to existing business applications and assisting in planning for and implementing new ones.

  • Confers with and may train internal and external customers in the utilization of business applications, within areas of expertise, to ensure that customers optimize the value of those applications.

  • Provides reports for leadership including operations, field and finance (etc) as needed related to product volumes for billing/invoicing purposes in a timely manner on a set schedule

  • Supports front line staff members with system-related issues, navigates the issue through to resolution, documents findings and reports to leadership with actions needed if any

  • Trains new staff members as needed on how to operate or process product line on the source system

  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert during finalist presentations as needed in providing system demonstrations or overviews

  • Provides ongoing system support in identifying gaps, processing flaws and recommending alterations to best practices

  • Identifies and assists in resolving business-related problems and issues with assigned applications and work processes. Escalates problems beyond level of expertise to manager, more experienced technical staff or vendor representatives.

  • Recommends improvements to existing technologies & methods, to improve the quality/timeliness of technical & customer support.

  • Delivers quality and timely results, i.e., technical and customer support, based on company business needs and objectives.

  • Maintains state-of-the-art knowledge within areas of responsibility.

  • Recommends and implements improvements to existing technologies and methods or proposes new ones, to improve the quality and timeliness of technical and customer support.

  • Fosters the development of technical knowledge and performance skills of technicians.

  • Complies with and supports all corporate, department and unit policies and procedures.

  • Keeps manager, project teams & business unit customers informed of activities & problems within assigned areas of responsibility; refers matters beyond limits of authority to manager for direction.

  • Presents technology capabilities to internal and external parties as needed.

  • Provides technology demonstrations for sales/prospect meetings as needed.

  • Support operations as needed at prospect meetings during implementation and post go-live.

  • Tracks, monitors and updates senior leadership in ops on all elements related to enhancements, upgrades and chances to the business technology platform

  • Supports other projects and other areas as needed on projects that span across own business unit.

  • Performs other related duties as required or requested.

  • Upholds the Crawford Code of Business Conduct at all times.

  • Participates in special projects or performs duties in other areas as requested

Requirements

  • Education equivalent to a college degree in an information technology related or business administration related discipline, or the equivalent in related work experience.

  • Minimum five years of experience in the insurance industry or a related financial services industry.

  • A working knowledge of at least one insurance industry field (e.g. underwriting, Workers Compensation, Disability, FMLA etc) to be able to determine user requirements; a basic understanding of the insurance industry and Broadspire business practices, to ensure that technical solutions correspond to business needs.

  • Ability to receive ideas, thoughts and information without interrupting. Ensures comprehension of what is being said; asks questions to achieve understanding, as appropriate.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Excellent training capabilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to concentrate on detailed assignments and to work independently, even with distractions.

  • Reviews work for accuracy and completeness.

  • Ability to create and maintain a positive customer service relationship and to identify and understand customers' needs. Maintains two-way communication to deliver products and services that meets customer expectations.

  • Ability to communicate ideas and information verbally, both one-on-one and in meetings, in a manner that is clear and concise. Presents prepared information in a manner that holds customers' interest and addresses their needs and concerns. Able to adjust presentation styles to correspond to the audience being addressed.

  • Ability to present written information in a clear, concise and organized manner. Writes technical information so that it can be understood by non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to manage own time, activities & resources. Identifies work activities needed to accomplish objectives & coordinates those activities to deliver desired results. Prioritizes multiple activities & projects.

  • Ability to gather and analyze facts and data and to draw correct inferences from the information.

  • Assesses alternatives and presents logical solutions to problems.

  • Ability to influence events to achieve results. Originates independent action rather than passively reacting to events as they occur.

  • Ability to make practical, timely and realistic decisions after considering possible outcomes as well as corresponding risks.

  • Able to use reason, even when dealing with sensitive topics.
