The Scholastic Supervisor is responsible for providing academic support, guidance, and mentorship to student-athletes while collaborating with academic professionals to create a highly effective learning environment with a primary focus on student development. What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.

Other Requirements and Factors: Ability to work flexible, non-traditional hours including some evenings, weekends and holidays to complete assigned duties. Occasional travel required.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Two years of Athletic Academic advising experience at collegiate, high school or junior college level or athletic administration experience working with student-athletes at those same levels

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software

  • General knowledge of NCAA rules

  • Ability to comprehend oral and written instructions

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree

  • Three to five years athletic academic advising at the collegiate, high school, or junior college level or athletics

    Responsibilities:

  • Academic Support - Provides a high level of academic support programming for student-athletes from admission through graduation. Establishes relationships and demonstrates a true willingness to communicate the ideas and expectations of the academic program. Works with other professionals to assess and evaluate student academic interests and abilities while developing a plan for success.

  • Academic Records - Proactively monitors and provides intervention strategies for student-athletes.

  • Communication - Communicates effectively with student-athletes, coaches, staff, and faculty by providing timely and accurate academic reports.

  • Compliance - Maintains continual and thorough familiarity with all applicable NCAA, Conference and University rules and regulations. Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rules and regulations concerning student-athletes: conduct, appearance, road games, punctuality and other areas as deemed appropriate. Provides appropriate educational training for academic staff and enforce rules appropriately.

  • Committees - Serves on staff, departmental, and university committees as assigned. Represents the Athletics Department on various levels within the University campus, the athletics profession, and the local community.

  • Recruitment - Assists in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes through transcript evaluation, scheduling, and facilitating academic presentations and tours.

  • Organization - Maintains organized files and records that document academic progress and eligibility.

  • Department Policies - Participates in developing and enforcing academic and departmental policies and procedures.

  • Student-Athlete Engagement - Supports and promotes Student-Athlete Engagement events and seminars.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
