Job Description:

Department Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Issues Management, the successful candidate will support the bank's Issues Management Framework, Standards and Policies and ensure alignment with Third Party Risk Management's Issue Management Standards. The accountabilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:

You’re coming to the table fully knowledgeable about third party risk issue management and, here at TD, you’d be putting that insight into action.

Depth & Scope:

  • Highly seasoned professional role requiring substantial business knowledge/expertise in a complex field and knowledge of broader related areas

  • Integrates knowledge of the enterprise sub-function’s or business line’s overarching strategy in developing solutions across multiple functions or operations

  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across teams and functions

  • Interprets internal/external business challenges and the industry environment, recommends course of action and best practices to improve products, processes or services

  • Acts as a technical expert/lead integrating cross-function understanding within their own field of specialty; may manage team(s) of related specialists

  • Leads cross-functional teams or projects with significant resource requirements, risk and/or complexity

  • Independently manages end-to-end functional programs

  • Solves or may lead others to solve complex problems; leads efforts or partners with others to develop new solutions

  • Works autonomously as the lead and guides others within area of expertise

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree preferred

  • 7+ years of relevant experience

  • Advanced business understanding and knowledge of risk and control functions

  • Advanced knowledge of governance, risk and control procedures, strategies & tactics

  • Knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends

  • Ability to establish goals and objectives that support delivery execution for multiple teams

  • Ability to contribute to the direction of the function and provide advice to the team and delivery leadership

  • Ability to lead, plan, execute and evaluate project activities to ensure completion of initiatives

  • Skill in mentoring, and performance management

  • Skill in using analytical software tools, data analysis methods and reporting techniques

  • Skill in using computer applications including MS Office and industry standards

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form

  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across teams and functions

  • Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and drive team execution

  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

Program Execution

  • Act as a subject matter expert and provide guidance on the Issues Management Framework, Standards and Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) Issues Management Procedures

  • Act as a subject matter expert and provide guidance on the 1B function and mandate in the Third Party Risk Office (TPRO)

  • Establish the TPRO Issues Management program, process and procedures and adherence with relevant frameworks, standards and procedures

  • Provide guidance and direction as well as manage a team in TPRO supporting issues management

Enterprise Issues Management Application

  • Develop and maintain robust understanding of the MERLIN Issues Management module and TPRM Findings (MUCs) system to ensure the workflow aligns with the Enterprise Issues Management Framework, Standards and TPRM Issue Management Standards

  • Escalate Issues related to the MERLIN/EGRC tool that merit attention from business owners and/or 2nd line risk and control partners

Issue Management

  • Oversee management of remediation activities in the various issue management systems to ensure issues and MUCs remain in good standing by providing advise, direction, oversight and escalation on a timely basis

  • Provide regular reporting to key stakeholders and incorporate meaningful insights and root cause drivers in order to reduce the number of issues and MUCs

  • Prepare and oversee regular governance and oversight forums/meetings with key stakeholders, which will include a wide range of issue types (eg Audit, Cyber, TPRM, exam findings)

Relationship Management

  • Maintain strong and collaborative relationships with key partners and stakeholders to ensure TPRO is seen as a trusted partner

  • Review changes to the Issue Management standards and systems; identify and assess impact of changes to process and procedures to ensure alignment of first line and vendor management to standards

  • Be closely tied into other TPRO programs (e.g. Ongoing Monitoring, Quality Control) and identify opportunities to align with related programs and their teams

Teamwork

  • Support the team on strategic and/or tactical operational risk management deliverables as required

  • Maintain awareness of operational risk management concepts, trends, regulatory developments and industry standards
