HarperCollins Australia is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic professional to join the HarperCollins Adult Books marcomms division in the role of Publicity Manager. This is a full-time position, based at our head office in Sydney’s CBD.
The purpose of the role is to work with the Head of Marketing & Communications to drive the strategic direction of the Adult Books publicity team. You will oversee a team of three talented professionals, providing guidance to ensure their success, while also spearheading your own high-profile campaigns.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) :
Lead and oversee the Adult Books publicity team in delivering top-tier publicity campaigns
Work closely with publishing, marketing and sales teams to create innovative and impactful publicity strategies for our authors
Plan and implement your own fully integrated publicity campaigns for the Adult Books division’s local and international authors
Organise, execute and attend author launches, events and national tours to enhance author visibility and maximise sales
Write media materials for internal and external use
Participate in acquisition and covers meetings
Cultivate strong relationships with internal stakeholders, NewsCorp Australia, authors, agents, booksellers, and media
Oversee the year-round schedule of author participation at national writers’ festivals
Attend writers’ festivals and conferences
Other duties, as required
The successful candidate will possess:
A demonstrable publicity background working in publishing, the arts, or similar
Experience in managing and leading a successful publicity team
Bring their knowledge of the market and prior publicity experience to deliver outstanding campaigns
Strong relationships across Australian media
Excellent market and commercial knowledge, able to keep up-to-date with the latest trends, news, media and wider cultural landscape
Exceptional time management and planning with the ability to work effectively across multiple projects with various deadlines
Great attention to detail
Strong written and verbal skills
To be effective in this role you will have experience working on fully integrated and dynamic publicity campaigns, as well as experience organising and managing author tours and events, excellent interpersonal skills, and be positive and self-motivated, with a keen interest in books.
