The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
The Director, Project Management in Administration & Finance is responsible for end-to-end project management as assigned by the Chief of Staff (COS), including designing, implementing, and leading the structure necessary to achieve all project goals in a timely manner. The Director will collaborate with leaders within Administration & Finance (A&F), as well as others across the University on projects and initiatives both short-term and long-term. The Director, part of the Office of the EVP team, will assist in identifying and prioritizing projects based on the University and A&F strategic plans and/or objectives of the EVP. This role operates under the general direction of the Chief of Staff with input from the A&F leadership and significant latitude for independent judgment and action.
Project Management & Leadership
Provides leadership for projects as identified by the COS and works with the COS, the EVP, and A&F Management team to identify additional opportunities to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness, in support of annual A&F goals and objectives. As an experienced project manager, the Director manages all parts of identified projects, in coordination with operational stakeholders and managers. Develops project deliverables including charters, project plans, communication plans, success measures and reporting, facilitating governance committees and working groups as appropriate. Creates and delivers presentations for faculty, students, staff, senior leadership, and board of trustees members as appropriate. Develops appropriate structure and process to facilitate the initiation, execution, monitoring, and completion of various projects within the Office of the EVP and throughout A&F. Incorporates concept of performance improvement and change management best practices into a project management framework. Provides consistent reporting and communication on assigned projects. Serves as a member of the Office of the EVP, participating in the planning and management of A&F priorities and the work of the Office of the EVP to accomplish the objectives of the university strategic plan. Participates in various committees and meetings to inform and prioritize A&F project needs and interact with key stakeholders across the university. Functions as key resource and spokesperson for operations excellence to the A&F Organization.
Performance Improvement Program Leads the development of a performance improvement program for A&F in collaboration with other University organizations, to improve the understanding and application of improvement science within the division. Advises A&F management in the leadership and coaching of performance improvement projects to create a culture of continuous improvement. Develops key metrics and dashboards to track progress. Assists in identifying roadblocks for success and developing action plans to move forward. Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: • bachelor’s degree required. • Master’s degree preferred. • 5 years in a leadership role required. • Significant work experience with emphasis on operations and strategy preferred. • Or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Required: • Proven history of ability to lead and influence with both direct and indirect authority. • Well-developed project management skills including expertise in change management and use of tools for evaluating existing work processes and recommending improvements in workflow. • Experience related to rapid process improvement (RPI) such as LEAN and Six Sigma. Six Sigma Black Belt preferred. • Ability to view “big picture” and engage stakeholders from all areas of the organization in various projects and operational improvements. • Sophisticated analytic ability: able to develop key performance metrics, identify data sources and manipulate and analyze data necessary to evaluate and report on key activities. • Professional and effective presentation, written and oral communication skills. Comfortable presenting at internal conferences and representing the organization on panels. • Self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail. • Strong interpersonal skills with a natural ability to influence, direct and coach diverse groups.
