PURPOSE

The person filling this position will serve as Coordinator of the Clean Coast Texas program. They will coordinate a program team that works with coastal communities to achieve their economic, ecological and public health goals by assisting in the development and implementation of comprehensive approaches and best practices for stormwater and floodplain planning and management, local/regional policy development and adoption, on-site sewage facilities (OSSF) maintenance and funding strategies, and environmental outreach and education to support the adoption of the Texas Coastal NPS Program.

DESCRIPTION

Functional Area 1: Program Coordination

Percent Effort: 55%

Job Duties

  • Coordinate regular team meetings

  • Coordinate and document all relevant activities of team members

  • Coordinate monthly seminar series

  • Coordinate website updates

    Functional Area 2: Community Engagement

    Percent Effort: 40%

    Job Duties

  • Engage with communities on the Texas coast to develop partnerships and promote adoption of Clean Coast Texas recommended practices

  • Write proposals with partner communities to support water quality improvements

  • Write newsletters with program updates for partners

  • Develop graphical and other forms of education/engagement materials

    Functional Area 3: Reporting

    Percent Effort: 5%

    Job Duties

  • Reporting including interim and final reports to funder

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. in Environmental Science or Related Field

  • Four years related experience

  • Additional education may be used as a substitute for the minimum experience requirement: Masters degree in Environmental Science or related field and two years related experience

  • Demonstrated experience with stakeholder and/or community engagement and outreach

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organization skills

  • Strong time management skills

  • Strong public speaking skills

  • Knowledge of environmental water quality and best management practices

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to distill complicated concepts pertaining to water quality and coastal resilience to a level that can be understood by laypeople (graphically or written)

  • Working knowledge of Clean Coast Texas and/or other relevant/related water quality initiatives

    SALARY: $5,416.67- $7,083.33 Monthly (Approx. $65,000- $85,000 annually)
