Job Description
NREL’s office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) has a position opening for a full time Business Intelligence (BI) analyst. The analyst will report within the NREL OCFO Financial Systems and Project Delivery group and will also have the opportunity work with and support the three other OCFO groups: Financial Operations, Acquisition Services and Financial Planning & Analysis. The position will be primarily dedicated to implementation and maintenance of a new Business Intelligence reporting tool, and creation of new reports and dashboards based on business and technical requirements. This position will also help develop training materials to educate various NREL stakeholders on how best to use the new Business Intelligence reporting tool. The analyst will collaborate with NREL Information Technology Services (ITS) data team for development of data governance, delivery of OCFO data sets, and troubleshooting current BI system errors.
Job duties will include:
Participate in discussions with stakeholders to define and document requirements for new reports and dashboards.
Develop and test new reports/dashboards, ensuring alignment with business and technical needs.
Design innovative and user-friendly visualizations to enhance data interpretation for OCFO staff and customers.
Analyze and document business definitions for new and existing data sets.
Validate and input business definitions into data schemas.
Provide troubleshooting support for BI user groups and resolve reporting issues.
Collaborate with ITS on data governance and management.
Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for stakeholders on BI tool usage.
Support the creation of data governance policies and procedures.
Participate in quality assurance testing and peer review for BI products.
Analyze and integrate new data sources into the enterprise reporting framework.

Basic Qualifications
Relevant Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant education/experience. Limited use and/or application of technical principles, theories and concepts. Limited knowledge of industry practices and standards. Basic knowledge of laws, regulations, principles, procedures and practices related to specific field. Good analytical and problem solving skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to use various computer software programs.

Additional Required Qualifications
Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, including workspace governance and DAX functions.
Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, particularly in finance, accounting, and business contexts.
Basic understanding of database concepts, data modeling, and data preparation.
Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex data to non-technical audiences.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a matrixed team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with NREL OCFO data sets, dashboards, and processes.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and SmartView reporting.
Background in ETL processes and data integration.
Knowledge of financial reporting, accounting, and technical business solutions.
Demonstrated experience with Business Intelligence reporting systems such as Tableau, SSRS, or Power BI.
Familiarity with corporate finance/accounting principles and visualization design best practices.
Understanding of ETL/integration processes and data management frameworks.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Job Profile: Professional I / Annual Salary Range: $63,600 - $104,900
NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
