Job Description

Exciting opportunity to join a newly-created team with the aim of developing system solutions that will help expand the company's business. The emphasis is on Power Electronics and Power Management, but you will define highly integrated systems that will serve as demos and reference designs to appeal to the industrial market. You will collaborate across multiple functions to help define the business case as well as the technical case. You'll have the opportunity to deepen your expertise and learn about new systems, and to have the initiative and autonomy to propose new developments and have a direct impact on the business

We are seeking a highly skilled Power Electronics System Architect to join our expanding Systems and Solutions Marketing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power management (AC/DC, DC/DC and DC/AC power conversion systems) and will be capable of designing comprehensive systems that integrate power, analogue and digital components. He or she will be able to design a complete system from concept through proof-of-concept development. Initiative, self-motivation, and exceptional communication skills are paramount for the success of this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads or contributes to the system design, Power architectures selection, and components selection from conceptualisation to proof of concept.

  • Employs simulation tools to model and analyse power conversion systems including AC/DC, DC/AC and DC/DC converters.

  • Autonomously identifies system solutions tailored to specific market segments, considering both technical viability and market demand. Gathers, analyses, and interprets technical and business data to make sure decisions are well-informed and aligned with company goals.

  • Architects systems that integrate power, analogue and digital components to offer system solutions that meet the requirements of customers in the specific market segment

  • Works closely with cross-functional teams of product owners, control/firmware engineers and hardware engineers to deliver integrated solutions.

  • Effectively manage project timelines, engineering resources and budget

  • Assists the Sales and Marketing teams in defining competitive solutions offering.

  • Participates and engage in activities to identify market trends and customer requirements to be translated into solutions roadmaps.

  • Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in power electronics.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in electronics engineering or comparable discipline

  • 12+ years experience in power electronic design and development. In-depth knowledge of power management and ability to work with the basic architectures of AC/DC, DC/AC, DC/DC converters.

  • In-depth knowledge of magnetics and control theory.

  • Proficient with simulations and CAD tools (MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE, SIMPLIS…)

  • Ability to run feasibilities for comparative analysis of efficiency, BOM and cost of different power converters architectures and system solutions.

  • Experience in taking system designs from concept to proof of concept.

  • Good understanding of power electronics components (including silicon-based IGBTs, MOSFETs and Wide Bandgap technologies) and their driving.

  • Knowledge of electrical machines and motor drive would be a plus.

  • Knowledge and understanding of medium power (up to several hundreds of kW) and medium voltage (up to >1kV) design and control issues would be a plus.

  • Experience or knowledge of PCB design for high power applications would be a plus.

  • Thermal design experience (loss calculations, simulations and cooling unit specifications).

  • Understanding of EMC design mitigation techniques.

  • Inquisitive and curious about new market segments. Willing to work with lack of clear inputs and proactive in helping to define them.

  • Good communication skills and ability to deliver clear messages to management, to peers and when interacting with customers.
