As the Inpatient Rehabilitation Service Manager, you'll oversee teams of physical therapists working across multiple specialties, including the Emergency Department, Medicine, Transplant, ICUs, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Trauma, and Oncology. A Brief Overview

The Manager-Inpatient Rehabilitation Services has 24-hour, 7 day, responsibility for managing all inpatient, operational and clinic aspects of Rehab Services to provide effective and efficient patient care. The Rehab manager participates as a member of the management team to assure attainment of the objectives of the Rehab Department and as a member of the Medical Center management team. The Manager deals with evolving integrated healthcare delivery systems, technological innovations, and increasingly complex regulatory environment, restructuring of work, and an increased focus on preventive care

What you will do

  • The Manager focuses staff efforts on serving patient needs and establishing a working environment conducive to continuous learning and quality improvements, and which supports excellence in clinical practice and patient care. The Manager upholds institutional philosophy, establishing and maintaining treatment protocols and standards, and developing programs which support a dynamic environment to meet the needs of the patients in an efficient manner.

  • Attracts, retains and develops key people who contribute significantly to the growth and success of Rehabilitation Medicine and the Medical Center. Uses a variety of management styles and group processes to assure effective working relationships. Motivates staff in fulfilling their job responsibilities and communicates the philosophy and concepts of the institution.

  • Defines the scope of emerging rehabilitation roles of the future consistent with national trends in health care delivery; and creates and implements long-range plans for new delivery systems in areas of outpatient rehabilitation.

  • Develops clinical / professional skills in staff. Maintains communication mechanisms with supervisors who are responsible for the service area during the absence of the manager.

  • Ensures compliance with state and federal laws, accreditation, professional and regulatory agency standards, including quality assurance, and License requirements within the service line unit.

  • Ensures coordination and implementation of all Rehab therapy services across rehabilitation disciplines and hospital departments.

  • Finalizes budget requests, prepares required written narrative and reviews the final proposal with the director/assistant director. Monitors budget compliance and assures timely corrective action when necessary.

  • Manages the operational and clinical aspects of rehabilitative care in assigned area.

  • Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning for staffing, process improvement, and medical program changes; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals. Participates in decision-making through active membership on committees and teams. In collaboration with Director, develops business, operations and strategic plans for the unit and for specific programs and services within the organization.

  • Interviews, selects and trainis new staff; approves or disapproves recommendations from subordinate staff on personnel actions; evaluates subordinates' performance; hears and resolves employee grievances; and determines the need for and initiates disciplinary action in order to ensure adequate and competent staffing for the agency, program, division or institution.

  • Represents the Hospital/Medical Center on University, local, and/or state boards, commissions, associations, and committees as requested or approved by the Director.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Master's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience. In addition, at least one year of supervisory or management experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated Aability to budget, make financial projections and write reports

  • Demonstrated Aability to conceptualize, plan, organize, coordinate, and manage the work of a major program or function within a department

  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area

  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal and personnel management

  • Knowledge of principles, methods, equipment and theory of the practice of clinical specialty

Licenses and Certifications

  • BLS - Basic Life Support

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $68.46 - $90.70 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
