What we want

The Multimedia Production Specialist II, under general supervision of the Director of Content Development, coordinates and directs the details of multiple multimedia related projects. This will be accomplished through visual storytelling primarily through video journalism and live broadcast productions. Collaborates with web and social media teams to create content for web-first purposes of short, medium and long form as well as promotional for internal and external use. Serves as the production lead for all in-studio broadcast content, producing and directing a variety of radio, TV, and media programs, including content for web and social media. Must be able to create content independently as a reporter, photographer and editor or as part of a larger team as circumstances dictate. Must also know how to direct and film live events.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Four years of related multimedia experience (video production for television, live events, web, newspaper or agency)

    Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, digital media, journalism or relevant field or equivalent experience

  • Five (5) years of experience in live video production

  • Experience producing motion graphics or animations

  • Experience being responsible for a multimedia production suite

  • Experience working with those with and without creative acuity in the production process

  • Significant experience with industry-standard software and hardware to support high-quality multimedia production in a higher education context

  • Experience working live events (technical directing a live show, audio, switching a live event and knowing how to perform under pressure)

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency with PC based editing systems and utilities

  • Mastery of digital SLR cameras, image editing, cinema camera operations, studio broadcast cameras, set design, continuous and strobe lighting, post-production editing, color grading, and audio editing.

  • Software Proficiencies: Apple Final Cut, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Ross Swithcher, Expression and DaVinci Resolve

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

    Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient with 3 axis gimbals, manual and automatic sliders and external recording devices

  • Drone photography and videography

  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment

  • Ability to work within tight time and budget constraints

  • Attentive to detail and meet customer needs

    Responsibilities

    Multimedia Content Creation

  • Assists in the creation and processing of program content for radio, television, and media production

  • Assists and/or performs post-production editing, show direction, graphics creation, lighting arrangement, set design/construction, and audio operator in the studio and field

  • Works behind the camera and in the edit bay

  • Determines project timelines and sets project deadlines

  • Develops, creates and integrates videos and photos into online and social media

  • Creates, produces, shoots and edits digital media content and studio broadcasts

  • Creates video and still photography sets on location

  • Provides consulting and support on multimedia projects

  • Updates and edits produced multimedia pieces

  • Maintains awareness and knowledge of current production trends and technological advances in videography and studio broadcast

  • Properly archives and masters digital assets

  • Maintains image repository

  • Collects and analyzes data for presentations

  • Meets with customers to determine multimedia project needs and requirements

  • Maintains University brand standards

  • Conceptualizes and coordinates content and design services

    Outreach and Production Support

  • Assists in publishing content to social platforms as needed and assists in shaping social/web strategies and best practices

  • Posts local productions to the PBS Cove website for video on demand (VOD)

  • Posts to social platforms and web publishing sources as needed

  • Assists with creative vision

    Student Production Mentorship and Supervision

  • Leads student production assistants in program production, including training students in the operation of production equipment (cameras, lighting, audio boards, etc.)

  • Leads student production assistants in setting up production equipment and sets for a variety of television productions including remote productions such including live event broadcasts. Supervises assigned student staff
