NuScale Power Mechanical Engineer 4 (NSSS Mechanical Systems) in United States
POSITION SUMMARY:
The NSSS Mechanical Systems Engineering organization is focused on the NuScale Power Module System Design including nuclear steam supply system (NSSS) component design inspection and testing in accordance with nuclear industry codes, standards and regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Manager, NSSS Mechanical Systems, The person in this role will perform mechanical engineering assignments on the nuclear steam supply system (NSSS) including system and detailed component design. Review and evaluate various plant systems to ensure design, performance, inspection and testing requirements are defined. Prepares, checks, and reviews engineering reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, and other design documents. Collaborate with a multi-discipline team on very complex tasks in multiple and diverse areas and proposes innovative design solutions requiring a significant amount of independent judgment. Interprets scope and project requirements. Plans, organizes, and performs complex assignments in support of developing licensing scope. Provides mentoring and technical direction to less experienced engineers. Serves as a technical lead for the design of NSSS components and systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Possesses excellent knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application and has detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards and regulations.
Possesses extensive product knowledge of NSSS Components within the Reactor Systems such as, Valves CRDMs, Pressurizer Heaters, etc.
Prepare and review engineering specifications, drawings, and other documentation that communicate the design and technical aspects of components, systems, and structures associated with NSSS systems. Works on complex tasks in multiple and diverse areas and proposes innovative design solutions.
Act as subcontract technical lead (program manager) for vendor design of NSSS Components and lead team to deliver design, manufacturing and assembly. This includes extensive engagement with design partners and internal stakeholders to ensure NSSS system designs meet NuScale and regulatory requirements.
Interprets scope and project requirements to develop design alternatives when required.
Serves as test program sponsor for testing scope related to the individual’s area of expertise.
Interfaces with NuScale Licensing in support of domestic and international regulatory efforts.
Provides guidance and mentoring to other staff members in all areas of NSSS design.
Interacts with co-workers and other disciplines to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. Individuals should be interested in acquiring general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields in order to function on multi-disciplinary teams.
Acquires, maintains and develops training qualifications.
Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:
Education/Certification: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical). A registered professional engineer license (P.E) in Mechanical, Nuclear, is desired, but not required.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of full-time relevant nuclear experience is required. Must have demonstrated experience working with remote teams. Additional experience in the following areas is desired:
Possess a working knowledge of ASME Codes and Standards and 10CFR 50
Nuclear Utility or plant experience and knowledge
NSSS Component Design, Inspection & Testing
Resolving complex & multidisciplinary design issues
Domestic nuclear licensing support experience
Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

The target pay range for this position is $127,104 - $153,401 annually. The full pay range is $113,955 - $178,237.
