The College of Dentistry is looking for a Manager of Research Project Administration to serve in the Pediatric Dentistry department.  We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. What you need to know

Proposed Salary: Min - $60,000 annually. Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Work Schedule/Location: This is an on-site role with a typical schedule of Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Five years of related experience in research administration or finance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a demonstrated ability to craft persuasive and compelling content.

  • Strong research abilities and the capacity to synthesize complex information into clear and concise written materials.

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines.

  • Ability to think strategically, apply sound judgment, be resourceful, troubleshoot, and take initiative.

  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to producing high-quality work that reflects our company's professionalism and expertise.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teams and stakeholders.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and Adobe program suite (Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop, etc.).

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft and Adobe program suite.

  • Proven experience in technical writing, proposal development, and grant writing, preferably within the engineering or construction industry.

  • Familiarity with RFP/RFQ processes and grant funding mechanisms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • History of strong written communications skills, ability to write clear, structured, articulate and persuasive proposals.

  • Previous history of grant writing, publication, and/or successful federal/foundational grant funding.

  • Masters or Doctoral degree in Education, Educational Psychology, Public Health, or Social Work.

Essential Duties/Tasks:

Pre and Post Award Administration

  • Direct research administration activities within a college, research unit, or research division; or lead a team within a central research administration office

  • Oversee University wide research administration programs related to research compliance

  • Performs pre-award duties, such as reviewing RFPs, seeking funding opportunities, developing programmatic grants, and providing training to faculty on the proposal development process.

  • Utilizes grant search software and databases to assist faculty in finding grant opportunities.

  • Performs post-award duties, including reviewing currently funded grants and contracts for compliance.

  • Trains faculty and staff on pre-award and post-award standard operating procedures.

Administrative/Reporting/Compliance

  • Assists with progress reports and ensures adherence to grant management reporting standards.

  • Performs research compliance duties such as overseeing appropriate training for the Institutional Review Board, Responsible Conduct of Research, Misconduct in Research, and Conflict of Interest.

  • Monitors deliverables for programmatic compliance and advises on operations of Institutional Review Board and Export Control.

  • Manages intramural funding programs, including program delivery/implementation.

  • Provide expertise with complex, multi-disciplinary proposals and negotiating complex agreements; develop training tools and resources

  • Identify and collaborate with faculty to resolve issues including compliance, project deliverables, fiscal management, and reporting

  • Foster relationships with stakeholders including colleges within the University research community, partnering central units, external sponsors, and regulatory organizations

  • Exercise signature authority to submit, negotiate, approve, and revise agreements, documents, and proposals on behalf of the University

  • Contribute to the unit’s research strategy including reporting methods, performance indicators, operational efficiencies, compliance practices, and research portfolio growth; represent the interests of the research administration unit throughout the University; collaborate with research directors, executives, and academic administrators to develop strategic plans

  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with internal policies and external regulatory institutions including government organizations, interpret and apply policy changes to unit operations; educate staff, investigators, faculty, larger research community, and administrators on business practice changes.
