Position SummaryOversees the day-to-day operational activities of the Moda and BHS Membership Accounting Division covering a wide range of responsibilities to ensure retention of existing groups, members, regulators, and partners and improve efficiency of all administrative services; Core Management responsibilities include: Coaching, Supervision, Development, Motivation, Direction and Support to Membership Accounting Supervisors and Leads; measures and evaluates results to determine if standards are being met.This position is on-site at our Portland, Oregon location. Pay Range$81,475.80- $101,856.32 ​​​annually*Actual pay is based on qualifications. Applicants who do not exceed the minimum qualifications will only be eligible for the low end of the pay range.

Required Skills, Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ year’s relevant industry experience in Business Administration or Health Care Administration preferred.

  • 3 - 5 years Management experience in the insurance industry preferred.

  • Ability to Lead, Develop, and Motivate staff of all levels.

  • Knowledge of or experience with; COBRA, Retirement Plans, Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Employer Group, Individual, Affordable Care Act, Private Exchanges, or TPA business.

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Maintain an overall knowledge of the organization, operations and industry; both local and national.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, decision making, organizational, and detail orientation skills.

  • Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals, government organizations, agents, and employer groups related to the provisions of services designed to retain existing accounts and obtain new accounts.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to conduct meetings and presentations with internal as well as external customers and constituents.

  • Ability to achieve extraordinary results through effective management of resources, systems and processes.

  • Demonstrate strong, effective, and diplomatic interpersonal communication skills with employees of all levels.

  • Ability to work well under pressure, work with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.

  • Ability to hire, lead, motivate, and develop future leaders and other staff.

  • Ability to adapt to change, work independently, and as part of a successful team.

  • Maintain confidentiality and project a professional business image.

Primary Functions:

  • Responsible for operations and maintenance oversight of the Membership Accounting Division.

  • Supervises staff, providing daily work direction, vacation scheduling, monitoring attendance, giving performance reviews, and hiring and training new employees.

  • Sets short-term and long-term objectives for Supervisors, removes road-blocks and provides resources to ensure division and professional goals are met.

  • Acts as team leader for projects relating to Membership Accounting.

  • Recommends appropriate staffing requirements based on projected new sales and changes in type of business or procedures while keeping informed and aware of the performance of current staff and trainees to ensure their effective performance.

  • Works with Marketing, Sales and Service, Moda and BHS Leadership, BIU, Agents, Group Administrators and Membership Accounting staff to ensure timely and accurate processing of new group installation and on-going maintenance of all accounts.

  • Be an active, integral, dynamic and contributing member of the Membership Accounting Leadership Team. A guide and example to the Supervisors, Leads and Specialists of the Division.

  • Ensure excellent customer relations with internal constituents, external customers, State and Federal regulators, and Agents and Brokers.

  • Responsible for and always promoting quality and continuous improvement within the Membership Accounting Division.

  • Ensure division quality assurance standards and turnaround times are adhered to through monitoring, and regular 1:1’s with your Supervisors.

  • Develops effective ways to measure turnaround times and quality measures while monitoring the results.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
