Are you a seasoned system administrator with a passion for Active Directory? We are on the hunt for a Lead Windows Systems Administrator to join Texas A&M University's Technology Services (http://it.tamu.edu/) for an onsite position in College Station, Texas.

In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of managing and deploying Active Directory in large-scale environments, ensuring our systems run smoothly and securely. Your deep knowledge and ability to jump right in with Active Directory will be crucial. You’ll lead projects focused on Active Directory, guiding a team of seasoned professionals to achieve our goals.

While Active Directory will be your focus, you’ll also handle the installation, configuration, and maintenance of our Windows Server infrastructure to support our operations and ensure optimal performance. Your advanced troubleshooting skills and security expertise will be key. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to mentor junior team members, sharing your insights and helping them grow.

We’re looking for someone with extensive experience in Active Directory and Windows Server administration and deployment. If you also have experience with Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange Server, RRAS/RADIUS, strong scripting abilities, and configuration management tools, that’s a big plus. These additional skills can really set you apart and enhance your impact on our team. But don’t worry if you don’t have all of them—we still encourage you to apply.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:

  • Manage server infrastructure – standalone machines, virtual servers, Aggie Cloud, and commercial cloud.

  • Build and maintain individual departmental and enterprise servers – web servers, databases, fileservers, and other Windows servers.

  • Manage and consolidate enterprise Active Directory environments.

  • Coordinate server needs with key stakeholders

  • Creates programs for automating system administration.

  • Recommend and evaluate software and hardware upgrades.

  • Leads new technology deployments and system integration testing.

  • Monitors and maintains system security.

  • Provides backup, protection, and recovery support for client data.

    Salary: Commensurate based on s elected candidate’s education and experience.

    Schedule: Required to participate in on -call rotations provid ing 24/7 tier III support for managed IT resources. The selected candidate will be expected to work onsite in College Station, Texas.

    Qualifications       

    Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's or equivalent combination of education and experience AND five years of system administration experience.

    A well-qualified candidate would also possess one or more of the following:

  • Five years of Windows systems administration related experience, including a strong background in man aging an Active Directory Environment.

  • Proficiency in managing Windows Server operating systems.

  • Expertise in Windows Server, enterprise Active Directory Domain Services, Entra ID, Microsoft Exchange Server, Duo MFA administration, RRAS/RADIUS, configuration management, system monitoring and alerting, and automation using scripting.

  • ITIL Foundations certification.

  • Excellent written communica tion, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
