SUMMARY:

The Department of Computer Science & Information Science at Texas A&M University-Commerce is actively seeking applicants for a Short Term Instructor position in the field of Computer Science (CS). The location for this position is the RELLIS campus in Bryan, Texas. This position involves teaching responsibilities from August 2024 to December 2024, with a one-time appointment. The review process will commence on July 8, 2024. While applications will continue to be reviewed until the position is filled, those submitted by July 8, 2024, will receive full consideration.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The teaching assignments for this position will include five undergraduate CS courses such as Systems Analysis & Design, Cloud Computing & Security, Operating Systems, Systems Security & Trusted Computing, Junior Cyber Design Project, Senior Cyber Design Project, Cybersecurity, Web Programming & Interface Design, and Ethics, Law & Cybersecurity. The successful candidate is expected to teach any five courses from the mentioned set in a face-to-face format and hold at least 5 hours of weekly office hours. The average class size is expected to be between 10 and 20.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: The candidate must have successfully completed at least 18 credit hours of graduate courses included in the mentioned set of courses in a reputable institution, with a major field of study in Computer Science or a closely related discipline.

  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: A commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and a dedication to maintaining high standards for student success. Proficiency in both oral and written communication is essential.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience and expertise in Cybersecurity, or Cyber-physical systems.

  • Industry experience is highly valued and desired.

  • Previous experience in higher education teaching.

  • Licenses/Professional Certifications related to Cybersecurity, or Cyber-physical systems.

  • Knowledge of ABET accreditation.

ADDITIONAL JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Qualified candidates specializing in Cybersecurity are strongly encouraged to apply for this position.

  • This position is open to candidates who require immigration sponsorship, including H1B visas.

SALARY:

The base salary for this position for 4 months will be no less than $30,000, but it may be adjusted based on experience and qualifications.
