Job Description

Purpose:

The Instructional Designer II for TEES Manufacturing Workforce Initiatives is a passionate individual who will be responsible for working with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to develop online and face-to-face courses for adult learners.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts initial needs assessment and content analysis in collaboration with staff and SMEs to create learner-centric face-to-face, hybrid, blended, and online courses.

  • Advocate learner experience through recommendations for enhancements and/or revisions of course materials, delivery methods, and instructional practices.

  • Creates design documents (course outlines, storyboards, design mockups, etc.) to guide course development process.

  • Authors original content and modifies existing materials in partnership with SMEs to include, creation of slides, scenarios, cases, video scripts, and assessments.

  • Actively collect feedback from learners, clients, and the project team during and after a design to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with the multimedia production teams to assist with development of courses.

  • Designs evaluation instruments and final evaluation reports for future iterations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What we need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related experience in instructional design.

What is helpful:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in instructional/learning design, education, or adult learning preferred.

  • Experience working with SMEs in engineering or technical field.

  • Proven experience effectively prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines and work objectives.

  • Experience interacting with subject matter experts to develop and deliver professional development courses.

  • Experience with learning management systems, student management systems, and/or client/customer relationship management systems.

  • Demonstrated success in instructional design in online and in-person environments.

  • Prior experience working with SMEs to create effective courses for adult learners.

  • Experience with Canvas learning management system.

  • Experience with editing and proofreading educational materials.

  • Experience with Articulate 360

  • Experience with using Microsoft Teams as a tool for managing multiple projects.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of standard office equipment and personal computers.

  • Proficient use of MS Office Suite to include Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  • General knowledge of learning theories and educational technologies.

  • Strong skills in communicating complex processes and content into simple and easy to understand concepts

The Workforce Development Division of Texas A&M Engineering will be the premier provider of programs, conferences, professional development, and educational opportunities to prepare experts, employees and advocates for STEM-related fields. The Workforce Development Division has six programs: Spark! PK-12 Engineering Education Outreach, Nuclear Power Institute, Engineering Academies, TEES EDGE Professional Education, Regional Divisions, Conference Planning Services.
