Description

This is a 10-month grant-funded faculty position coordinating and delivering training associated with the Green Power Motors training initiative. Additional duties entail the maintenance and coordination associated with program and Technology Division laboratories and equipment. The position is based on the South Charleston campus, but travel to support teaching or laboratories on the Montgomery campus will be required. Salary offer will be commensurate with education and experience.

Examples of Duties

  • Provide instruction for courses related to the Green Power training initiative, coordinate Green Power related training and grant activities.

  • Coordinate the maintenance and operation of program and Technology Division equipment and laboratories.

  • Coordinate training and grant activities related to the Green Power training initiative.

  • Teach curriculum material and develop daily lesson plans to ensure expected course outcomes are met.

  • Develop program curriculum.

  • Participate in necessary training and certification to deliver program course work.

  • Utilize different methods and mediums in delivering course material.

  • Support program, department, and institutional operational objectives.

  • Train to become familiar with the operational, maintenance and repair procedures of college equipment on an ongoing basis, including both internal and external training.

  • Work with faculty and other lab personnel to configure laboratories for specific laboratory activities.

  • Assist in updating or specifying updates for facilities.

  • Specify or assist in specifying new laboratory equipment.

  • Develop or assist in developing new laboratory experiences and laboratory configurations.

  • Teach or assist in teaching laboratory classes or training. (Depending on qualifications.)

  • Manage the inventory, order and assist in ordering supplies for program and Technology laboratories.

  • Facilitate distance / co-located class delivery.

  • Assist in recruiting visits, division outreach events, and demonstrations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical program. (10 or more years of relevant documented industry work experience or appropriate industrial certification may substitute for a degree.)

  • Excellent verbal communication, written communications and interpersonal skills.

  • Willingness to attend training and become certified to deliver program specific courses.

  • Willingness to operate and maintain division equipment and serve as an instructor or laboratory assistant for appropriate courses.

  • Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license, as travel may be required.

Preferred

  • A Master of Science or higher degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field.

  • Relevant experience in the manufacturing sector.

  • Additional experience/background in one or more additional fields such as manual machining, CNC programming, drafting, CAD/CAM, pipefitting, fabrication, welding, surveying, additive machining, industrial automation, industrial mechanics, process control, instrumentation, industrial mechanics, rigging, transportation, automotive mechanics, or Diesel mechanics.

  • Relevant industrial certifications or qualifications such as CET, NIMS, NCCCO, AWS or similar.

  • CDL license.

  • Prior teaching or training experience.

  • Prior on-line teaching experience.
