Amentum Fire Suppression Technician in United States
Purpose and Scope:
Inspect, operate, maintain, and repair all fire protection systems including those for cooking operations IAW UFC 3-601-02, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, NFPA 96 and UFC 3-600-01 on the Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP).
Essential Responsibilities:
Perform cross-connection inspections and prevent backflow of all water-based fire protection systems, equipment, and related structures in the cross-connection control program.
Inspect, test, and maintain fire protection systems IAW the latest edition of the UFC-3-601-02.
Inspect, test, clean, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on kitchen hood fire suppression systems and ducts and attach service tags IAW NFPA 96 and UFC 3-601-02.
Coordinate all hood and duct cleaning work with the COR, Fire Department (quarterly only) and respective Facility Manager at least 72 hours prior to cleaning.
Respond to all fire suppression system impairments.
Participate in preliminary and final acceptance testing for all fire protection systems.
Submit a report of all hood and duct exhaust system tests, inspections, and maintenance accomplished.
Submit written reports of all fire suppression system problems, repairs, and test results.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
High school diploma or equivalent training/experience.
Must be certified IAW NFPA 25.
Must be certified IAW NFPA 96 and UFC 3-601-02.
Must have a minimum of two (2) year experience at that duty position.
Must be certified to inspect and certify kitchen hoods.
Minimum of three-year experience at that duty position.
Ability to read and write English is required.
Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
Must be a USN to fill this position.
Possess a valid state issued driver’s license and passport.
Must be eligible for a Non-Sensitive (Tier 1) investigation and be able to receive a Geneva Convention CAC issued.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
Prior overseas government contracting experience preferred.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
This position will be exposed to products of fire to include heat, smoke, toxic fumes, and gasses.
Basic physical requirements include walking, bending, stooping, stretching, climbing, running, and lifting up to 100 pounds.
Must be able to perform job tasks at any place on the Aerial Ladder from minimal extension to full extension.
At times, work will be done in a station or an office environment maintaining vehicles, equipment and firefighting apparatus.
Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
