Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Fire Alarm and Emergency Dispatcher to work in our Emergency Communications department. Our team works a 4x12 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with a rotating schedule. Youwill report to theEmergency Communications Manager.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work directly with Warning Communications Center personnel, INL security, INL Fire Dept., Emergency Response Organization (ERO) functions, INL medical, and outside emergency response agencies during INL emergency response.

  • Monitor and operate the INL proprietary supervising alarms and emergency communications and alerting systems. Respond to alarm signals and calls for service and initiate an appropriate response. Operate decision support systems such as computer-aided dispatch (CAD) to manage emergency response actions accurately, effectively, and efficiently.

  • Dispatch emergency response resources and coordinate communications between responders and affected INL organizations. Facilitate and coordinate requests for additional response information and emergency resources. Work and function with elements of the INL emergency response organization (ERO) including INL security and outside law enforcement agencies.

  • Support INL life safety and facility personnel during periodic inspections, testing and maintenance of associated systems.

  • Prepare and maintain activity logs, process and document fire protection and alarm system impairments and verify equipment and system status. Accurately maintain correct, complete, and concise documents, files, databases, maps, and resource lists.

  • Maintain the status of all required certifications and complete all required training, actively participate in safety and quality programs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

  • Must be able to certify in CPR and AED use.

  • Must be able to meet the job performance requirements established in NFPA 1061 & 1225 Standard for Professional Qualifications for Public Safety Telecommunicator.

  • Must be able to certify as an Advanced Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD), Emergency Fire Dispatcher (EFD) and Emergency Telecommunicator (ETC).

Job Information:

  • Salary: Academy Rate: $28.94/hour - Post-Academy Qualified Rate: $37.17/hour (Rates can vary based upon individual work location, clearances, and qualifications. Rates are accurate for current posting and subject to change. These are bargaining unit positions.)

  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
