Xylem Field Service Technician in Tampa, Florida

Xylem is currently searching for a Field Service Technician to support our Water Technologies Business Unit located in Mulberry, FL. The Field Service Technician’s primary responsibility will be plant operations, but he or she will handle membrane installations, trial runs, investigative tests, repairs, maintenance, calibrations and overhauls to our water treatment equipment. This position will involve documenting all data collection, inspections, maintenance, repair work, etc. One key responsibility for the Field Service Technician is to effectively identify problems as they occur and take appropriate steps to solve them, including performing repairs and referring more complex issues to others.

The Field Service Technician will work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and provide outstanding customer service as an embedded contractor within an industrial site.

This position will require working overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays. This position is a night shift opportunity working Sunday, Monday, Tuesday & every other Saturday 7pm - 7am, the site operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for his/her safety and the safety of coworkers by adhering to OSHA, MSHA, and company regulations.

  • Responsible for maintaining an open, collaborative, team-oriented work environment with peers, Leaders, Management, and customers.

  • Monitor tank levels and adjust flows on multiple treatment apparatus to maintain tank levels and production.

  • Monitor water quality throughout physical / chemical treatment processes to ensure equipment performance.

  • Complete lab analysis to include: TSS, pH, specific conductance, ammonia, fluoride, arsenic, phosphate, Chemical Oxygen Demand, Alkalinity, Nitrates, Chloride, etc…

  • Measure and record pressures throughout treatment processes and make appropriate adjustments to flux and recovery.

  • Use computerized SCADA, DCS, or HMI to control pumps, valves, and process variables.

  • Notify supervisor or other team members of activities that result in interruption of customer service, non-compliance with state or company policies/procedures, accidents, safety issues, major equipment failures/repairs, water quality or availability issues and necessary corrective actions.

  • Reads and interprets technical and operational documents, manuals, blueprints, and diagrams.

  • Provides status reports to the customer and supervisor daily.

  • Replace RO, NF, or UF membranes as required.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices.

  • Knowledge of wastewater collection operation and maintenance principals and best practices.

  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures.

  • Ability to foster an attitude of cooperation with other team members and Divisions.

  • Technical competence in area of responsibility.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple assignments or objectives.

  • Required standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping and crouching, sitting, typing, walking, reading, writing, color determination, speaking and listening for extended periods of time.

Minimum Job Qualifications Include:

  • Associates degree or 1-2 years of vocational technical training preferred. HS diploma or equivalent required.

  • Basic computer skills, safety focused, and lab experience necessary.

  • Experience working in an industrial setting.

Salary range:

$37,500.00 - $59,500.00
