The Service Technician will perform serviceability assessments on hydrants and water valves, performs structural repairs for water valves, and collecting detailed data. Responsible for the safe, accurate, and professional operation of the 2 person crew. They lead the field operation, provide direction to the operators, and have responsibility for the trucks and equipment.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

Valve and Hydrant Operations

  • Understand and follow all operating procedures

  • Operate and test valves and hydrants

  • Understand the implications of operations

  • Understand water system dynamics

  • Inform crew chief whenever an abnormal situation arises

Valve and Hydrant Maintenance and Testing

  • Understand and follow all maintenance and testing procedures

  • Maintain and test valves and hydrants

  • Understand the mechanical construction of valves and hydrants

  • Call for assistance whenever an abnormal situation arises

  • Be available for emergency response

Equipment

  • Execute maintenance on all equipment

  • Keep all equipment clean

  • Responsible for daily truck inspection

Professionalism

  • Present a professional appearance

  • Communicate well with others

On call assistance

  • Provide on call assistance in order to respond to customer emergencies

DAY IN THE LIFE: In this role, the working environment is mainly outdoors in weather extremes, use of PPE is required at all times including hard hat, reflective vest, steel toe boots, etc.} and the physical demands may include but not limited to regularly sitting, standing, lifting up to 50lbs, etc.}. In addition, this role may include travel up to 75% of the time and weekends as assigned. Safely operate our company service vehicle to jobsites.

SALARY : The starting pay rate for this position is $23.00 - $27.00 an hour. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as certificates, skills, experience, endorsements and work location. At Xylem we offer a competitive compensation package with a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.

Salary range:

$54,000.00 - $86,500.00
