The Global Security Events Advisor position is responsible for assessing and mitigating security risk at events where Chevron is host, sponsor or will have significant presence. Venues for these events might be Chevron facilities, private property or public locations, and attendance could exceed 1,000 people.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct proactive security risk assessments on events where Chevron is either a sponsor or an attendee

  • Establish a security mitigation plan for each event, including field security procedures and developing protective intelligence requirements based upon the event specifics

  • Create a real time event intel monitoring parameter

  • If warranted, be at the event to deliver the security plan, providing direction to Global Security staff, private security or law enforcement partners. Events are often at night or on weekends.

  • Work closely with event planners to ensure security plans are aligned with Chevron goals and objectives for the event

  • Confirm that each event security plan has been communicated to stakeholders and that all are aware of their roles and responsibilities, and how to handle disruptive incidents

  • Liaisons with industry peers, government officials, third party subject matter experts and vendors to stay abreast of latest threats and share information

  • Specify technical security systems, physical security features and administrative procedures for use at events

  • Partners with Chevron leadership and Law counterparts, and interfaces with Law Enforcement, as each event warrants

  • Develops and delivers security awareness messaging to Chevron leaders, event participants and personnel within the security teams on how to remain safe at events

  • Conducts post event reviews to identify improvement opportunities for future use

     Required Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years experience providing security risk management services such as risk assessments, threat investigations and mitigation planning

  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing security plans at special events

  • Bachelor’s degree in related subject

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to provide work direction to team members in pursuit of a common goal

  • Demonstrated history of teamwork, ethical decision making and excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with subordinates, peers and management at various levels

  • Ability to handle multiple projects at various stages of completion while meeting deadlines in a timely manner

  • Naturally inquisitive with a strong interest in current events, world affairs and continuous learning

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information

  • Experience with diverse cultures and backgrounds, especially in support of business operations in non-US locations

  • Estimated travel required 50%

     Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in related subject

  • International business or government experience

  • Training and curriculum development in the threat management field

  • Experience with technical security systems used in protection scenarios

    Relocation may be considered.

    Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
