Salary $80,000-95,000/year
TheDirector of Nursingis responsible for providing direct clinical and administrative supervision of agency nursing staff. The Director of Nursing will oversee the provision of medical services, Agency policies/procedures and training compliance in accordance with OPWDD regulations. The Director of Nursing will also provide direct nursing care services as required. These duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for providing administrative supervision of nursing staff including interviewing, hiring, training and conducting performance appraisals of departmental staff.
Responsible for providing direct clinical supervision and coordination of all aspects of individual medical needs to ensure their safety and well being including: Program intakes, Identification of individual medical needs, Development of nursing care plans, Obtaining necessary services and support to address medical needs; i.e. Service providers for medications, primary care physicians, physical therapy, Informed consent
Responsible for providing oversight to the Nursing Department and compliance with OPWDD Regulations including: Supervision of nurses to ensure compliance with regulations. Monitoring/review of medical charts to ensure regulatory compliance with documentation. Development and implementation of policies & procedures relating to medical/health issues.
Responsible for oversight and development of all medical protocols as identified through individual needs and regulations
Responsible for development and implementation of medical training curriculum ensuring regulatory compliance and the development of curriculum, training, and monitoring systems that ensure application of medical training within the programs.
Responsible for the oversight, coordination of and participation in the Nursing On-Call System.
Responsible for providing direction, guidance, training, and counsel to the nursing staff
Responsible for monitoring of all medication errors, and in conjunction with program and agency management, taking appropriate action as required.
Responsible for conducting and/or assisting with incident & accident investigating and submitting documentation and reports.
Coordinates and conducts nursing meetings.
Identifying and mitigating risks related to communicable diseases.
Responsible for identifying, reporting and/or correcting all safety hazards including physical plant problems and/or problem work practices and investigating all work-related accidents.
Requirements
Registered Nurse with a New York State License and minimum of 4 years experience with occupational safety, staff training, and/or developmentally disabled, including 3 years in administrative or supervisory capacity.-OR-A combination of education and experience that meets or exceeds the requirements of the position and the needs of the Agency.
A valid driver’s license and good driving record, acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier.
