Michaels Associate Demand Planner in United States

Support Center - Irving

Associate Demand Planner is responsible for developing and executing demand plans to enable the company to achieve sales, gross margin, and inventory goals. As Associate Demand Planner, you are the point between sales forecasting and replenishment of product. You will learn to create and maintain forecast models, incorporate business intelligence, and collaborate with other members of the organization including Category Management, Inventory Management, Pricing, Space Planning, Vendor Community and Store Operations.

Major Activities

  • Learn to build multi-level demand forecasts using statistical forecast models in the Blue Yonder (JDA) system while developing forecast techniques

  • Create demand forecasts to ensure proper inventory levels to drive promotional events and inventory in-stocks after event

  • Review and address forecasting exceptions

  • Gain comfort in presenting to cross-functional team and leaders at monthly forecast alignment meetings

  • Learn to review historical sales trends, market trends, seasonality, promotions, and space changes in preparing forecast data, developing statistical models, and evaluating results

  • Partner with senior planners and manager to learn best practices while gaining experience

  • Collaborate with cross-functional team to refine forecast based on updated sales assumptions and changes in pricing

  • Share insight with financial planning and fulfillment teams on key trend shifts

  • Understand key global business influence such changes in sales and trends for the respective areas

  • Partner with fulfillment team to address and resolve issues

  • Assist team with reporting and additional projects

Minimum Education

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent experience

Minimum Special Certifications or technical skills

  • Microsoft Office Knowledge

Minimum Type of experience the job requires

  • 2 years of work experience

  • Business, Retail, Supply Chain, or related field
