Join our Budget and Forecasting Division!

As the Budget Analyst you will assist in the development, preparation, processes, and procedures for all aspects of the annual operating budget in Oracle financial system, Oracle Hyperion budget database and Excel. You'll assist in agency-wide operating budget development and approval process, revenue stream forecasting and analysis. As a Budget Analyst, you will have the ability to develop and implement scenario analysis for the six versions of the annual budget. You'll review monthly financials and budget to actual comparisons. You will also make recommendations to the Budget Manager and/or Divisional Leadership based on financial performances, and serve as the Budget Coordinator of various divisions (there are 14 divisions).

This position is performed four (4) days in-person (Monday-Thursday), with Friday as a hybrid day.

Serve as a good steward of TriMet by regularly utilizing our transit system to maintain a strong and current understanding of customers’ experiences and of TriMet’s product and service offerings.

Essential Functions

1) A ssist in the development and preparation the six versions of TriMet’s annual operating budget.

2) T rack and monitor budget vs. actual results, budget projections and monthly analysis. Monitor Division budget through invoice tracking, comparing actual expenditures to budget and communicate budget status to managerial staff.

3) Serve as the Budget Coordinator of various divisions. Meet with divisional executive on needs and prepare all budget form documentation for consideration. Prepare and ensure all budget requests are complete and accurate

4) E nsure budget compliance with State of Oregon Budget Law. Respond to budget requests from the Tax Supervising Conservation Commission (TSCC).

5) D eliver a variety of budgetary information to support requests from the General Manager and TriMet’s Executive Team. Participate in regular divisional discussions/meetings that have a financial impact to TriMet.

6) P roduce and maintain documentation of the Agency’s budget and budget processes. Continually evaluate related departmental processes and systems for improvement, developing recommendations for implementation.

7) U tilize various agency software to collect, analyze, and form recommendations of financial information to decision-makers. Perform trend analysis on cost centers as directed. Utilize Hyperion Budget Module Software and its tools (Smartview) to analyze and load the annual budget.

Position Requirements

A B achelor's Degree is required with preference for a degree in economics, statistics, finance, business or accounting .

A minimum of two (2) years of experience with two (2) years of e xperience in budget preparation, financial analysis, accounting or related being required.

Two (2) years of e xperience coordinating work with multiple departments is preferred.

One (1) year of e xperience utilizing Oracle Financial system and Oracle Hyperion budget database or e xperience with Oregon Budget Law preferred.

Salary Range

Minimum: $76,690.00

Maximum: $115,034.00

Salary offers will be determined by a candidate’s education, training and relevant experience. Any final offer of employment will fall within the range stated above. For transparency, we choose to list the full available grade range, however, TriMet’s salary administration process will ultimately determine the final salary offered.
