Position SummaryThis position will support the department and provides analysis and reporting for external and internal customers. The Analyst will be responsible for creating and maintaining a variety of different models to be used to help make better informed decisions across the healthcare spectrum. This position will incorporate different types of data to help build, maintain, and constantly evolve these models.This is a hybrid position based in Portland, Oregon. Pay Range$61,877.79 - $113,876.64 ​​​annually (depending on experience) **Actual pay is based on qualifications. Applicants who do not exceed the minimum qualifications will only be eligible for the low end of the pay range.

Required Skills, Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in mathematics, actuarial science, or a closely related field.

  • Passed minimum of 2 actuarial exams administered by the Society of Actuaries.

  • Actual actuarial experience and exam progress will determine job level

  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts including statistics and algebra.

  • Proficient in personal computer use including experience with spreadsheet, word processing, and database systems.

  • Experience with using data analysis tools such as SAS, SQL, Microsoft Access, or other similar applications.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and with constantly shifting priorities.

  • Maintain confidentiality and projects a professional business image.

Primary Functions:

  • Uses analysis tools such as SAS and Excel to create custom ad hoc analyses to support the needs of internal and external partners.

  • Applies and examines predictive modeling tool results for pricing, trend, outliers, and significant patterns.

  • Assist with the completion and submission of multiple required state and federal filings, reports, and applications.

  • Produces and distributes a variety of regular monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

  • Meets with customers to understand requirements and design report structures.

  • Conducts peer review on analyses and reports produced by other employees.

  • Engages in continuous improvement activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions & Contact with Others

  • Office environment with extensive close PC and keyboard work, and constant sitting. Must be able to navigate multiple screens. Work in excess of 40 hours per week, including evenings and occasional weekends, to meet business need.
