Job Description:

SimIS Inc seeks a Systems Engineer IV to provide Integrated Training Systems (ITS) Systems Engineering (SE) support for maritime Training Systems being developed in Virginia Beach, VA. The successful candidate will provide analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of hardware in support of major shipboard systems.

Experience Required:

  • Plans and designs systems infrastructure including the implementation and design of hardware. Analyzes, develops, modifies, tests and maintains the system. Verifies and validates systems meets internal and external requirements. Diagnoses problems and provide recommendations for improvement on existing and new systems.

  • A specialist on complex technical and business matters. Work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group.

  • Support the systems integration engineering management planning efforts and support of key programmatic and process documents such as Training Systems Roadmaps and Training Interoperability Assessments.

  • Provide programmatic technical briefings and point papers that may be presented.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders such as Navy field activities, Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) and NAVSEA codes, and other Navy, military and agency training program participants to discuss engineering level issues and topics.

  • Review concepts, plans, demonstrations, and other documents as required, providing analysis and recommendations.

  • Support capability phasing and conduct requirements analysis as required.

  • Participate in the Integrated Training System Working Group (ITSWG), Training Domain IPT (TD IPT), and other technical exchanges. Contractor shall provide support for defining and evolving combat system training requirements and capabilities.

    If applying for a key positions (KP) must meet these criteria:

  • At least eight (8) years of full-time professional experience working as a systems engineer in at least one major shipboard, non-propulsion electronic subsystem of the eight (8) years of experience

  • At least five (5) of the years of systems level experience with at least five (5) of the following systems types is desired. Candidates who map their resume to more areas will be graded preferentially to those with less:

  • Aegis Combat Systems

  • Aegis Warfare System expertise in: Aegis Display System (ADS), Command & Decision (C&D), Weapons Control System (WCS), Mission Planner, Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD)

  • SSDS Combat Systems

  • Combat Training Systems: Battle Force Tactical Training (BFTT), Aegis Combat Training System (ACTS), and Advanced Training Domain (ATD)

  • On Board Trainers: SQQ-89 (SAST), BEWT II, SEWTT, MH-60R Simulator (VCD/-CV-TSC)

  • Distribute training nodes: JBUS and NCTE Connectivity and Cisco Firewall\

  • Phased array radars: Aegis SPY-1 and SPY-6

  • Rotating Radars: SPS-48, SPS-49, SPQ-9B, SPS-73 NGSSR

  • Weapon systems: VLS, RAM and ESSM and GWS

  • Link systems: CEC, CDLMS and familiarity with JREAP-C series messages

  • Navigation systems: NAVSSI, GPNTS

  • In addition, at least two (2) of the years must have been full-time system level experience on the following:

  • Virtual Combat Systems (VTwin, etc)

  • Combat System Networking Architecture or Aegis and SSDS

    If applying for a NON-key position must meet the following criteria:

  • At least eight (8) years of full-time professional experience working as a systems engineer in at least one major shipboard, non-propulsion electronic subsystem. At least three (3) of the years must have been full-time experience at the system level.

    Special Skills/Knowledge/Training Required:

  • Master’s Degree in the fields of computer system design, computer programming and database design or technical discipline.

  • Experience in CAD, computer languages, operating systems, circuit design, and system design is preferred.
