Description

We are looking for a diligent Sr. Accountant to join our team situated in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This role primarily involves assisting with the preparation of financial statements, maintaining and balancing general ledger accounts, and conducting research and analysis of financial data. It's a crucial position within our organization, requiring someone skilled in government consulting.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the preparation of financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations

• Compile and analyze account information to prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense journal entries

• Maintain and balance general ledger accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions, resolving discrepancies as necessary

• Serve as a backup for Accounts Payable and Payroll, ensuring smooth operations during periods of absence

• Conduct research, collect and analyze financial data for the submission of required reporting, ensuring data integrity

• Manage fixed asset and depreciation records, keeping them up-to-date and accurate

• Prepare 1099 tax reporting forms and annual Personal Property and Business License filings in a timely manner

• Assist with tax returns and audits, providing necessary documentation and information

• Review and establish accounting policies and procedures, recommending modifications to improve efficiency

• Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as assigned, demonstrating versatility and commitment to the role.

Skills:

• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations

• Familiarity with General Ledger management and Journal Entries

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Excel Formulas

• Experience with Month End Close procedures.

Requirements • Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Senior Accountant role or similar

• Demonstrate proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations

• Show a strong understanding and practical use of General Ledger and Journal Entries

• Have advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Excel Formulas

• Proven experience in handling Month End Close processes

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Ability to work independently and within a team

• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Knowledge and understanding of government consulting industry is preferred

• Professional certification such as a CPA is a plus.
