Title: NHG OPERATIONS SPECIALIST Location: United States-Virginia-Virginia Beach Job Number: 240003QK Job Summary: Work in conjunction with the Vice President of Operations on all aspects of the operations of NEXCOM Hospitality Group NHG hotels assigned various projects and assignments. Provides oversight of the NHG Manager-In-Training MIT Program. Prepares maintains and updates all relevant training materials and manuals. Works directly with General Managers and Regional team on special assignments and duties. Duties and Responsibilities: - Supports new MITs throughout their participation in the program, beginning at onboarding. Provides regular feedback and tracks associates’ progress toward completion of the program, ensuring training is consistent and standards are followed. - Mentors MITs and provides on-the-job training on all aspects of NHG operations. - Recommends the hiring of new associates and relocation of existing exempt associates. Participates in the performance review process. - Maintains first-hand knowledge of trends in the industry, trends in each region, and trends in local markets. - May act as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for NHG contracts. - Assists in the planning, directing and coordination of (NHG) operations in order to achieve maximum responsiveness to departmental and mission requirements and DoD directives. - Develops Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M) for new NHG properties and coordinates assignment of support and work to General Managers, and NHG HQ associates. - Reviews and executes procedures to be followed in grand opening events for new and renovated properties. - Keeps abreast of procedures and programs with a view toward maintaining effective utilization of the property management system. - May represent NHG and NEXCOM in presentations, reviews, or meetings with COs, GMs and other management officials relative to NHG matters, in the absence of the VP of Operations. - Reviews support provided by NEX, GMs and other appropriated and non-appropriated management officials. Reports any and all deficiencies to the VP of Operations. - May assume the day to day operation of an NHG Property, as needed, or in the absence of an NHG General Manager. - Assists with Operations projects both in the field and at NHG HQ. - Up to 75% of their work may require travel. - Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of experience in administrative, professional, or other responsible work that enabled the applicant to gain knowledge of hotel/motel/hospitality operation practices and procedures; skill in dealing with others in person-to-person work relationships, and the ability to exercise mature judgment. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience, up to a maximum of a 4-year bachelor's degree for 3 years of general experience. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of progressive experience which provided a background in hotel/motel/hospitality operation management including: training and development, analysis of operating budgets, development and evaluation of sales objectives and expense control programs or similar work that demonstrated the knowledge and ability to perform the work of the position.
