Job Description

HII's System Integration group is seeking a Software Test Engineer to join our Integrated Training Systems Software Development team! This is a full-time position location in the Virginia Beach, VA area.

As a Software Test Engineer you will play a critical role as part of the Integrated Training Systems in the design, development and deployment of of the JAAR/DCD, shore and shipboard applications.

Essential Job Responsibilities

A Software Test Engineer, also known as lead systems analyst, a network engineer who can also program, or a software engineer who can also manage networks, is an IT professional who oversees the creation of hybrid software, web, and hardware products from initial specifications to final rollout and maintenance. These products are often sophisticated systems that run on the web.

• The software test engineer is responsible to integrate various network operating systems, application programs and hardware devices.

• Duties typically include managing the development cycle associated with producing a resilient software, hardware, and web application, including specification, design, coding, testing and maintenance.

• Conduct developer testing in both lab environments and aboard ship (when required) to verify software executing in line with requirements.

• Limited travel in support of software installation and testing.

Minimum Qualifications

5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.

• Bachelor-level degree in an Engineering Discipline

• 7 years of experience in systems engineering

• Working knowledge of Unix

• Previous C# software experience

• Ability to develop a task plan and then execute the plan

• Security+ certification (or must obtain within 3 months of hire).

• Secret Clearance (or ability to obtain a clearance)

Preferred Requirements

• Operational or development knowledge of training systems is a plus but not required.

• Experience with JIRA and subversion a plus.

Physical Requirements

Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the generic systems analyst discipline. Office work environment normally encountered.
