Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Director of Accounting in the Clinical Research Industry, located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This role involves leading and managing the accounting, tax, and treasury functions, and contributing meaningfully to operational issues and efficiencies. This position is also responsible for ensuring financial stewardship for the company and maintaining overall responsibility for the accounting operations.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and lead a strong, appropriately structured, cost-effective accounting organization that supports the growing business platform

• Maintain overall responsibility for the accounting operations, including cash management, forecasting and budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, revenue recognition, financial reporting, treasury, audit, and tax (income and payroll-related)

• Ensure that financial statements meet GAAP standards

• Lead financial system implementations or integrations when necessary

• Ensure financial stewardship for the company and meet information needs (e.g., dashboard/flash reporting)

• Contribute to operational issues and efficiencies including major contract structuring and negotiation, costing evaluations, and pricing

• Utilize strong business acumen and thorough knowledge of US GAAP to solve problems and make decisions

• Show a hands-on, roll-up-the-sleeves approach and a strong sense of urgency

• Utilize skills in Budgeting - Forecasting, Cash Flow Forecasts, and Annual Financial Reporting

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in the Health Pharm/Biotech industry, preferably in a senior accounting role.

• Proven experience in Budgeting and Forecasting.

• Demonstrable skills in creating and managing Cash Flow Forecasts.

• Proficiency in Annual Financial Reporting.

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; a master's degree or higher is preferred.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is strongly preferred.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent leadership and team management abilities.

• Proficient in using accounting software and other related financial management systems.

• Strong understanding of tax codes, regulations, and laws related to the Health Pharm/Biotech industry.
