Overview
Kimley-Horn's Virginia Beach, Virginia (VA) office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 10+ years of experience to join their Marine Structures team! This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities
Assist with the management and leading of projects
Develop full sets of structural drawings and technical specifications without guidance
Train and mentor Engineers-In-Training (EITs) in structural engineering
Perform structural design calculations, plan production activities, and prepare project document submittal packages, while maintaining a Quality Control program for the entire project
Lead and provide support for construction phase efforts on building projects in structural engineering
Support and participate in meetings and presentations with clients, contractors, and design team members
Contribute to identifying project opportunities through networking with new and existing clients
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field, required. Master's degree preferred.
Professional licensure as a P.E. in Virginia
10+ years of diversified structural engineering experience in waterfront and ports. Bridge design or deep foundation/bulkhead design experience will also be considered.
History of providing technical design and planning in the areas of waterfront structures and marine environments, bridges, or foundations/bulkheads
Strong desire and ability to be engaged with clients solving project problems
Ability to effectively communicate positively at all levels of the organization
Ability to manage and mentor staff and direct resources effectively in a positive manner
Demonstrated ability to manage projects profitably
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple simultaneous deadlines
Strong technical writing and communication skills
