Posting Number: 20241134F Position Title: Continuing Non-Tenure Track Assistant Teaching Professor, Physics Position Type: Faculty Location: Villanova, PA Recruitment Type: Internal/External Applicants Work Schedule: full-time/9-months Department: 186-Physics Position Summary: The Department of Physics at Villanova University is seeking applications for a continuing non-tenure track Assistant Professor position beginning Fall 2024. We seek applicants committed to the teacher-scholar model, in which faculty integrate their scholarly pursuits with undergraduate education. The successful candidate should demonstrate high potential for both teaching and research, including the engagement of undergraduate students in research and the ability to attract external funding. The Villanova Physics Department has active research in the areas of Condensed Matter and Astrophysics. In Condensed Matter, our faculty members specialize in low-dimensional materials, biological physics, and magnetism in correlated-electron materials. In Astrophysics, our faculty are involved in studies of gravitational waves, the Cosmic Microwave Backgrounds, black hole accretion, and star formation, with strengths in observation and instrumentation. Candidates who can cultivate synergies with our existing Condensed Matter efforts in the development of their research program are particularly encouraged to apply. Duties and Responsibilities: In addition to maintaining an active research agenda leading to publication, our new colleague will teach undergraduate courses in his/her area of expertise, as well as other departmental courses, in a way that fosters connections across the discipline and the Villanova community. Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. is required as well as outstanding research potential and excellence in teaching. Preferred Qualifications: Post-doctoral experience in Physics or a closely aligned field is preferred.
