Pega CDH Data Engineer

Location: Vienna, VA

Hybrid: onsite 2-3 days per week

Pay Rate: Open to Both C2C and W2 options

Position Type: Multiyear Contract

Description/Basic Purpose

Serve as the technical subject matter expert for an assigned area providing moderately complex (Level 2) operational support to the organization. Develop technical solutions for importing and ingesting Customer Data into Pega CDH on Pega Cloud. The Pega Engineer will be responsible for guiding the design, development, and provide support to the existing organization's application(s) to support Pega Marketing systems capabilities. Solves highly complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions. Interacts with other functional teams or projects. Ensure department objectives are met in operational stability, efficiency, asset management, change control, performance management, metric development, security, and integrity of systems. Provide operational support input related to application analysis, code review, design, and programming functions.

Responsibilities:

• Support a team of Level 2 engineers for Pega applications

• Respond to end users for Incidents and Problems for multiple Pega applications

• Coordinate Level 3 Support when required

• Provide comprehensive day-to-day operational support

• Support and coordinate recovery operations in the event of operational failure

• Recommend, develop, and maintain complete and accurate documentation for supported environments

• Coordinate availability and performance monitoring activities and execution of scheduled maintenance activities

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting

• Perform analysis of applications and enhancements for process improvement or re-engineering

• Coordinate, document and evaluate unit testing for software defects

• Perform root cause analysis to identify and resolve recurring technical problems

• Coordinate integration of solutions with existing applications; identify and resolve existing and potential conflicts to ensure compatibility

• Evaluate possible designs, improve methods, and implement optimizations.

• Create and maintain APIs between Pega and other services/applications.

• Document best practices for data models, data loads, query performance and enforce with other team members.

• Implement integration plans and interface with testing teams to incorporate plans into the integration testing process.

• Develop custom systems integration solution components as dictated by business requirements.

• Ensure the security and integrity of solutions including compliance with the organization, industry engineering and Information Security principles and practices.

• Ensure compliance with corporate Incident, Problem and Change Management Practices, standards and procedures

• Analyze and validate data sharing requirements within and outside data partners.

• Work directly with business leadership to understand data requirements; propose and develop solutions that enable effective decision-making and drives business objectives.

• Serve on teams and task groups for projects/initiatives within the business unit and/or across the organization

• Build and maintain effective relationships with team members, management, key stakeholders and/or external contacts (vendors, etc.)

• Ensure clear, concise and effective communication of material

• Flexible to on-call rotation needs, open to work in shifts including weekend coverage as per needs

• A Certified Pega Senior System Architect with significant experience developing solutions in Customer Decision Hub (CDH)

• Certified Pega Decisioning Consultant (CPDC) with strong decisioning expertise and ownership of technical solutions.

• Responsible for architecting and designing business applications using Pega PRPC and other Pega frameworks.

• Responsible for technical oversight and implementation of Pegasystems solutions.

• Manage and ensure quality standards of Pega implementations.

• Lead the discussions and initiatives on integration of other applications with Pega based application.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems/Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

• Working knowledge of banking/financial industry standards and practices

• Very good understanding of SQL (Advanced level)

• Experience with processing various file types

• Experience in ITIL Service Operations including Incident, Problem, & Alert Management

• Hands-on experience with Pega 8.x, PostgreSQL and Cassandra

• Hands on experience with services and connectors/APIs

• Experience in understanding existing data model and create new data models

• Hands on experience using data page, user interface, job scheduler and report definition.

• Hands on experience using dataflows and datasets.

• Knowledge of the PRPC Architecture and PRPC design and implementation

• Knowledge of Pega Application packaging, deployment, Pega DevOps, security, rulesets, portals, reports, and other Pega OOTB tools

• Demonstrates change management and/or excellent communication skills.

• Experience leading/training junior team members on Pega application and incidents.

• Experience with PDC and server monitoring and agents monitoring

• Experience analyzing log files and reports from application sources

• 5+ years of experience in application support and incident and problem management

• 5+ years supporting Pega applications

• Pega Cloud experience

• Pega Certified System/Senior System Architect

• Experience on all Pega products including Deployment Manager and CDH

• Extensive debugging skills in PRPC using tracer, clipboard, and rules inspector.
